With a grand I'd do some lowering springs ( your choice all under $300), Steeda subframe bushing and alignment kit ($200), X pipe ($200), and wheel spacers ($100-150).

This is assuming you self install. All pretty straightforward and requires basic hand tools. Car will handle 100x better, sound and look mean as hell. Can't go wrong.

In my opinion I've never never really bought into tuners and intakes especially on a manual. Others love them. But that's just me.

Depending how serious your are about autocross and its classing, you may want to take serious look at what mods are allowed.
I run CAM-C. So mods are pretty much unlimited

I'd do the following:

Suspension: LCA and toe/knuckle bearing, BMR CB005...plus your choice of spring/damper

Safety: Jacking rails, catch can

Transmission: BG oil

I find the above to be highly useful, necessary and with great bang for your buck.

Don't waste your time adding power before you can get it to hook up.
Springs, sway bars, rear lower control arm bearings, toe bearings.
If you don't want adjustable sway bars like BMR, Steeda, whiteline etc. and want to upgrade from what you have.
Get these.

GT350/R front sway bar. Both are exactly the same. Diameter is 35mm
GT350/R front sway bar bushings
GT350R rear sway bar pt# FR3Z-5A772-E diameter is 24mm
GT350R rear sway bar bushings pt# F2GZ-5493-C
Your choice of springs. Or if you don't want your car lowered much if any at all you can get both front GT350R springs and 2 each of the GT350R rear springs.
Lower control arm bearings
Toe bearings
Lock out kit.

Don't waste your time or money buying adjustable toe links or vertical links.
Going with the oem ford GT350R parts would be the best bang for the buck.
I never thought about using GT350R suspension parts.

What is the lock out kit

I would add the above and the R parts.
Your car will handle a lot better. Then later down the road get a MGW and lighter wheels and tires. Possibly headers and exhaust. I like naturally aspirated cars. I myself don't have any interest in blowers.

If you went with a NA set up I'd add

If he's wanting handling and doesn't want to lower it much the R springs are the perfect choice.
The R front springs are 240 lb/in
The R rear springs are 914 lb/in

I'm saying for $1000
I would do all the parts I listed above. Oem parts are cheap.

Found these for $243, can you verify they are correct.
FR3Z-5560-P & FR3Z-5560-T & FR3Z-5310-M (x2)

The FR3Z-5310-M are the correct ones for the front. The rears I'll have to check because I have a GT350 and always confuse which part number is for the left and right for you guys.
The GT350/R have a left and right spring that is wound clockwise and one counterclockwise

Voodoo,
Your advice is greatly appreciated. I think I am going to go with the 350r springs and bars.

As soon as you can confirm the pn's I will order

Springs. Absolutely. Call up Steeda or BMR. Can't go wrong with either. Despite my previous love affair, Eibach is not as great on these cars as either of the two above. I love my ultralites and have heard nothing but great things about BMR's offerings. Definitely go Linear

For a GT, use the PN ending in T. Get two of them, fitment is confirmed.

For the rear?
Yeah, get 2x FR3Z-5310-M and 2x FR3Z-5560-T.

Hop over to the suspension forum, there is a huge thread discussing this topic.
