I picked up a $70 Cobra off of Amazon. Best bang for the buck. Saved me twice in the last month. Goes off sometimes even when I don't see a cop, but even the most expensive ones do that too.

I got zapped 6 weeks ago by a laser doing 63 in a 45, but luckily the officer was cool. He gave me a "No Proof Of Insurance" ticket and advised me to bring my insurance information to the clerks office and they would likely just rip up the ticket. (Which they did.)

I was under the impression that lasers made all these detectors obsolete as they can no longer provide you a warning to slow down like the old school radar detectors gave you. I felt that dropping a couple hundred dollars for a box to tell me "congratulations, you're getting a ticket" was not a good investment. Am I wrong in that assumption?

There's still a lot of opportunity to get snagged by radar so yes I think it is a good investment. Got an Escort Max2 at a deep discount because they are supposedly discontinuing it and love it.

I had an Escort 9500ix in my vert and mirror tap + blend mound.

Max 360 on a blendmount and wiretapped.
This is exactly what I'm going for in the GT350. Just ordered exactly this from Amazon and can't wait to try it out :D

You'll love it. The blendmount is top notch quality. Had a cheaper one before, worth the extra bucks.

I have been using the WAZE app for about a year and it has been good to me so far...List every red light camera, accident, police, construction. etc etc..

I mainly use it for road trips, it has saved my ass many times since the info is updated by users...

but YES, a radar detector is also piece of mind, Valentine 1 or escort 9500 are my top 2 choices... Going to look into the Escort 360 now due to this thread..LOL

I've had a Valentine one for many years now, and it's great! I mount mine on the windshield with the suction cups. The arrows are great for seeing where the radar is coming from, unlike the others on the market.

That being said, I don't see a lot of cops using radar actively anymore, everyone seems to be using Laser now, it seems rare to see a radar trap. Once they hit you with laser, you are most likely screwed.

Cobra's are absolutely useless. When you upgrade, look into something more legit like a V1 or Escort.

I know what you mean; Cobras are cheap and I'm sure V1 or escort performs much better. They ought to be for what they cost. But I've been pleased with the Cobra for what I paid for it. As mentioned, it's lasted over a decade and saved me multiple times, so "useless" isn't really the right word. I'll upgrade to something better than the current Cobra but won't be spending $400-$600 on one that's for sure.

"Laser is always instant on, it doesn't have a constant on function like radar because it doesn't operate the same way."

Then how does my $100 Cobra pick them up before I see the cop?

I've used a Valentine One for years and it's by far my favorite detector, the arrows are absolutely the best.

I recently added an Escort Redline when I learned about it's astounding Ka sensitivity which is what I need on the highway. But I have to turn off X, K band and just use Ka. So the Redline is just for Ka, the V1 still has to do X and K band duty.

But as stated already, if you live in a populated area WAZE is golden. It's got the most saves of any of my go fast electronics right now.

For laser I have Laser Interceptors but those are soon to be upgraded to Anti Laser Priority five head system.
