Sure looks like a Hellcat fighter from the rear. 700+HP with 275 all-season radials.

It will be fun to look back to these pics and see when the Camero SS killer was born.:ford:

I was being sarcastic with the Hellcat comment. Typical domestic to create gobs of power and channel it through a pony car suspension (I'm looking at you to Ford) with crappy tires to complete the mouth breather burnout dream car. In all honesty if Ford is going to create a special edition Mustang make it all-wheel drive, great paddle shifted automatic, with a 600 HP TT V-6. A GTR/AMG fighter of sorts. Granted, it would cost 100K+ but it is a special edition. Let the GT500 rule the drag strip, GT350 handle the road course work, and the above mentioned special edition terrorize everything.

While I'd agree with this a few years ago, the gt500 replacement should rule the strip AND the track. There is no reason for it not to. AND terrorize everything out there.

The Mach 1 can slot under it in all categories.

Yes, the Mach 1 should be the segway out of the GT and into the 350/500-equivalent trims.

I'm not sure it would though. Maybe a mid-way like the Boss 302, but I doubt it'll be the flagship Mustang. I've been saying for years that why would Ford dump the Shelby name when it sells cars. Sure Shelby American has nothing to do with the car at all, but at the end of the day when people hear "Shelby" they think racing heritage, quality and here lately, Ford.

I was hoping the last gen would get the Mach 1 with a N/A version of the 5.8 Trinity. I'd like to see the 2018 Mach 1 to get a 5.4L version of the Coyote with the regular crank and 500hp 475lb-ft of torque.

Read somewhere Ford could get more stroke out of the Coyote. Combine that with the 5.2 block and 5.4L of displacement is possible.

There is no reason to take it out to 5.4 when you can just use a 5.0 crank in a 5.2 block.

Looks to me to just be an upgraded Mustang GT. Ford is probably making the GT more competitive to the Camaro SS.

Well, no doubt the '18 GT will be getting upgrades too, so the Camaro SS will have sleepless night in about a year. I would expect the GT to have an uprated 5.0 though......with the Mach 1 getting that 5.2 CPC

I guess my big unanswered question is whether the Mach 1 will also debut for the '18MY. Personally, I hope so, as I'd like it to have the refreshed bodywork :)
