Do you guys use a torque wrench when tightening the lugs?
If so, do you know the recommended amount for our cars?

The guy at Ford about shit when I told him to put them at 150lbs when they were putting on new tires for me. I could only think to myself, "you really didnt know that Ford guy"

OEM Wheels 150 ft lbs
Aftermarket wheels 100 ft lbs
Is there a difference for 20 inch OEM foundry wheels versus 19 inch performance pack wheels?

Also, if im going from a 19inch wheel to a 20inch, how do I ensure that the odometer/spedometer is still accurate?

No all OEM wheels are rated at 150 ft lbs

Tire profile helps to correct that.

Why do aftermarket wheels take less if the studs are the same?
The size of the lug nut and seat really. Ever since I have been in the industry every set we have done has been torqued at 100 ft lbs for aftermarket sedans, Obviously trucks and jeeps are different.
Unilock applications are a monster I remember a Ferrari uni lock being at 350 ft lbs

S197s had a 12 mm wheel stud and required 100ftlbs. The s550s increased to a 14mm stud and requires 150ftlbs. Only thing that comes to mind is that these aftermarket wheels aren't designed to handle the 150ftlb required by Ford.

I've always torqued just about all car/truck rims to 120 ft lbs. Never an issue. Did have so old crager sst's back in the day that felt like the nut would never tighten..Wheel flex I guess.

Sorry Paul, 150 is the spec based on the bolt, not 100. Just because you havent seen any failures at 100 isnt a good reason to run a torque which is a full 1/3 less than the manufacturer spec.

FWIW, I've been running my Project6gr aftermaeket wheels with 150 for a while now and the wheels and lug nuts are holding up just fine, even with monthly mount/dismounting (I swap to track wheels at least once a month)

No worries brotha, I mean look I use 100 ft lbs on my 350 no issues but people may torque to what they desire by all means.

Side note: No the wheel has failed by being torqued too much, but I have seen studs fail yes.

You're so far off the mark, the wheel has got nothing at all to do with the torque spec of lugnuts and you're dispensing faulty info. You should probably keep that silly opinion in whatever shop you run where you're liable for it but not here where people who don't know better will copy you.

VinnAY we meet again my friend hope your doing well as always. Do me a favor got a issue feel free to call my cell directly 818-632-8943. Seems you always like talking smack to me for no reason not that I've ever had the pleasure of helping you out on any of the products you use which is fine.

Also just so you know I didnt say the wheel my friend, someone above mentioned the only reason they would think a lower TQ rating was being used was if the wheel could not hold up to it which is not the case. Care to read the thread before starting to slang out on the dish?

Look 4 posts above at Kong's post, actually allow for me to quote it for you.

"S197s had a 12 mm wheel stud and required 100ftlbs. The s550s increased to a 14mm stud and requires 150ftlbs. Only thing that comes to mind is that these aftermarket wheels aren't designed to handle the 150ftlb required by Ford."

Also side note I invite you to come by and hang out at the shop if you ever are in the area 12473 Gladstone Ave. STE F Sylmar CA 91342

I would love for you to come check out what silly shop we have.

Well there is my answer than. If the aftermarket wheels have no issues with the 150ftlbs Ford recommends than I will use 150ftlbs. Thanks.
