I just got off the phone with Koons. For a 2017 GT w/ PP in Magnetic they are giving me an OTD price (before 2.49% financing through my bank) of $32.3k. Haven't countered with anything but maybe with $32k and just ask to take the $300 off?? Has anyone negotiated to get a lower price with Koons?

Only things other than cash that I'd ask for is a vanity plate and weathertech floor liners for front/back/trunk.

With financing and putting $6k down it brings the payments to $467/mo. Final price I'm guessing is $33k.

Thoughts on the price? What about room to negotiate?

Thanks

I'm guessing that's a base PP? Or 32K is after 6K down?

It's a base GT w/ Performance Pack so the $32k is OTD before financing which will be 2.49% at most but I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer if he can do better.

Thanks

Then I'd say 32K is not bad at all.

It's actually $32.3k and after financing it'll be somewhere between $32.7k and $33k. Still not bad? Room to negotiate?

Thanks

Won't hurt to try to get a little lower, but if you don't succeed be happy with it as is. You trading anything in? That's where you can really go to work on a dealership because whatever they give you they are going to add 5K to to resell.

Well I'm currently driving an 02 Forester which might....might....be worth around $4k. And I need that as my winter car. The only time the Mustang will see salty roads is on it's drive home from the dealership and in a pinch if my Forester or her Legacy needs work in the middle of winter just to get me through a work week and to the weekend.

But are you saying that, say my Forester is worth $4k....they'd give me $9k for it on the trade?

NO! the opposite. Hypothetical if they give you 4,000 they'd try to sell for 9,000

Ha! Oh ok, I figured that was way too good to be true. And for how little it's worth on paper and especially even less to a dealer.... that car with it's 182k on the clock has been a life-saver! See I have a separate set of wheels with snow tires mounted on them which are on the car now. Makes driving in PA winters a breeze. And since I do all my own work on the car I know it'll go at least another 20-30k no problem and after I do my belt in 2-3 years it'll go another 100k. So no real incentive to get rid of it.

What I'm trying to gauge is...is the OTD price so low that negotiating for a vanity plate, weathertech mats, etc. not realistic or is there plenty of wiggle room for the dealer?

Thanks

Like I said you can try, but don't be dissapointed if they won't move anymore.

I think it sounds like a good price.

That sounds about right. Comes out to like 29k base for the car.

I looked long and hard last year and noone even came close to the price Koons had. Some salesmen even laughed at me saying that that price cannot possibly be real when I tried to get them in a bidding war or at least to match it. They were saying the car must be either used or a V6 model at that price.

I had another Koons salesman do that to me when another dealer quoted me an OTD price of $31.3k earlier this week. However, they didn't have magnetic in stock...just black and lightning blue. Lightning blue almost won. Almost.

But the magnetic is what I'm in love with. And since I only plan to do this once, I want what I want.
