Finally found some time to start installing the Steeda goodies I ordered before Thanksgiving (thanks to TJ and Randy). The question I have is regarding the front shocks. Once I had them on the car, I couldn't torque down the strut rod nut, it just keeps spinning.

Does anyone have any recommendations other than taking everything apart again?

Steeda Mods:
Sport Linear Springs
Pro-Action Non-adjustable Shocks
Camber Plates
Bumpsteer Kit
Rear Shock Mount

Dont you stick an allen wrench in the top of the shaft there and tighten it down??

No luck with that either. The nut just won't tighten.

You need to get a socket that has a cut out in it from the parts store so that you can hold the allen wrench in the space for it, and still have a socket on the bolt.

That or find a way to keep the shaft from spinning (which is why it won't torque down). This is the case with ALL struts, not just these.

Quite frankly, 3 quick tigger pulls with a impact ensuring the shaft doesn't spin... good enough.

How do you keep the shaft from spinning with the impact gun? I've tried this and it would still spin.

Like I said, quick stabs of the trigger. Not just holding it down.

You can also get some good pliers and wrap the jaws with thick cloth and hold the shaft without marring it, but risky. They make jaws with plastic contat points that are what you're supposed to use. Just --- 1 second jabs of the trigger 3-4 times.

And by impact I am referring to a real impact, not the home depot little impact guns for screwing in drywall screws.

Don't hold the impact trigger.

Should use the nuts that came with the shocks but if the OEM nuts fit... really don't think it makes any difference.

I'll give it another shot tomorrow when I install the rear. I'm using a 1/2" Dewalt 18v impact gun which was enough to get everything else unbolted and bolted.

That should be enough for the rear shocks, but the front I use a air or large battery impact and bam bam bam the trigger holding the shaft with these pliers I have that are plastic lined where they grip. I have the special socket to do the proper torquing, but haha haven't used it.

I also used an impact. No issues at all. I have a Dewalt cordless impact. I would be a little nervous to use air. At least use the lowest setting on the gun.

Thanks for posting that! Mine should be coming by Tuesday. The impact gun still kept spinning the shaft.
