First I've heard of track insurance in Australia, thanks!

According to this article it covers $10k of damage, so better than nothing, but not going to cover a write off: https://practicalmotoring.com.au/car-news/famous-insurance-offers-track-day-car-insurance/

Be careful out there mate!
You have to do something very silly to involve in a write off.... ;) most of the times you colect walls coming out or in to the corners and 10k would be close to cover it.... and like you said its better than nothing. I go to track days with intention of driving it home at the end of the day.

Interestingly I re-did some online quotes today that I had previously done before the NCAP thing and they've all gone up by a few hundred dollars. Its hard to know if NCAP is the reason why or some other factor.

Here's my qoute
Woolworths insurance
Comprehensive cover
2 years new for old
Windscreen cover
$800 excess
Unlimited kms

If I reduce kms to 12000 /year it's only $482
Has anyone else used Woolworths?

I'm in the market, have to renew by the 18/2 - nrma $953, Woolies $650, Youii $1207 :eyebulge:
My main worry about Wollies is if you need to make a claim - I'm with NRMA for everything else.
Friend in the smash repair biz said NRMA always pays - woolies and Youii don't.

Cheers

Read the PSD's, compare and then assess your risk.

Definitely. Comparing insurance on price alone is a risk in itself. Do you really want your car repaired by the cheapest bidder with an insurer that approves used and reconditioned parts? They are out there. Be aware of what you're agreeing to.

Re the comment of Shannons not covering track use, first I've heard of it. I've asked them in the past and it wasn't an issue. Same as 4WD offroad use. Their response in both cases was that I was covered as long as I was legally allowed to be there and not doing anything illegal. So on an official track day - covered. On a 4WD track in the Simpson with the right permit - covered. Street racing at 2am in an industrial estate - not covered.

Ive been getting a heap,of quotes and the woolworhs was the cheapest but I don't want it going to a cheap and nasty repairer
I think I'm going with SGIO as we already have one car with them.
We made a claim a few years ago and I couldn't fault their service
$771 comprehensive cover
$800 excess
Up to 15000kms / year
2 years new for old with market value after that
Includes any mods and extras
Windscreen and glass cover
Didn't take hire car option as its not my DD
Is anyone else in W.A. using SGIO
Also has anyone tried to get a quote from RAC in w.A.
Seems they will only quote on the Ecoboost

Living in the NT and also being 28 seriously hurts when it comes to insurance.. but now that mine isn't far off from coming up I'm looking to change. Currently oganised through my leasing company, with Vero by Suncorp. $1850 a year for $60k and $1000 excess. Pretty damn poor. Seems the only other provider I can find that will give me a quote for the NT and allow modifications is CGU. Can get $67,000 agreed value, 3 year new for old replacement and modifications are allowed. $1750 with $1000 excess. Only $100 saving but far better agreed value and the 3 year new car is good.

Thanks GTSALLY for your info:thumbsup:
I tried to do an online quote but only the Ecoboost models would come up in search :frusty:
Maybe once I have all my vehicle details i will be able to get a quote or I may need to give them a call

yes good idea, as long as you get them to email the quote as you get 10% off when you pay online, not when you pay via a phone call

Went and got a quote with shannons. They came in at $1750 as well but with only $650 excess and all the quality add ons of shannons and coverage of all mods as long as they don't contribute to any accident. Think I will chnage over to them.
