In general, misfires are often caused by a weak spark or a lean fuel mixture.
But the OBDII system uses the crankshaft position sensor to look for subtle changes in the speed of the crankshaft between cylinder firings. If the crank suddenly slows a bit, it indicates a misfire.
Since you had crank position errors it's a possibility that that was the culprit.
