Anyone else having an issue with Gates belts squeaking after awhile? My original belt started squeaking after about 500 miles. I replaced it thinking it was old stock or dried out and now the new one is starting to do the same.

Wondering if a different belt manufacturer will solve it or what anyone else has tried.

What's it sound like? Maybe it's an idler pulley loose. Or the tensioner. Or maybe something isn't lined up and is wearing on the belt

I thought it was an idler / bearing but after replacing them all it was still there. Only "chirps" when it is cold. After it warms up it goes away. I thought it was maybe the bearing in the front of the Whipple, but I tried replacing the belt before I sent the S/C back and it went away.

I have the same issue, I just got new idlers from whipple but haven't install them yet, the sounds also comes from the front part of the jackshaft but my installer is sure it's the smooth idlers because they show some wear.

I am going to try a different belt like Goodyear or something. Maybe it is just Gates belts. I don't see any alignment issues.

All smooth OEM type idlers wear the black coating, it's the edge on the belt running by a guard, for whatever reason on some Gates belts, it will rub and make a noise. Flipping the belt around eliminates it. As crazy as it sounds, it's that simple to fix.

Reversed the belt this morning. No squeak now. Let's see how long it lasts.

Mine began chirping last week. Flipped the belt around and squeak went away for one day. Now it's back...

Any ideas?
