I babied mine....for most of the six miles between the dealer and my house. :D

Then I took it on my 'official engine break-in loop' that I use whenever I build an engine for someone and it's back in the car, roughly 20 miles of back road, on and off the throttle with hills and curves, varying RPMs and throttle openings.

After that it got bounced off the rev limiter for the first time. Runs like a beast.

Mine doesn't.

To the OP - lots of good replies here and I personally went with the varied approach. I started to baby it if truth be told. Then after I brought her home my better half took her for a spin and it was game over. She had that thing all over the RPM range and power band. She pulled into the garage, got out, tossed me the keys, and smiled.
LOL does she have a twin?:headbang:

The title of this thread reminds me of the question I ask myself while sitting at work till people walk away.

I had my first oil change at 9k miles.. maybe wasn't the smartest move? :ninja:
I now get them done every 5k miles
0 issues.. 20k+ miles in a year

It's the same with the "let the rpm's come down on cold start before going anywhere."
I just mean there's a big paranoia about it when it's really a non issue, as is the case with the break-in period. There was an entire thread here where a guy's engine was revved a couple times after a cold start by a dealership tech and people were acting like it was the end of the world. Come on..
Yup.

Mine was redlined on the way home from the dealership. 50km on the clock, but fully warmed up.

And it continues to be redlined almost every journey I make. Haha.
