I could not seem to find an answer to this. I just hit 2k on the odometer and I had picked up an nGauge from a member which is why I ask. I have no problem waiting and I'm thinking that's a good idea to make sure the motor is good (I know 99% are).

Bathtub curve. I usually give it about 5K to break. If nothing breaks it probably won't for a long time.

I'd be aiming for 5k as mentioned. Mainly because I don't think 7,200 rpm is fantastic for an engine that is hardly broken-in

Cool, thanks all...I was thinking along the same lines of 5k...I really like Bartly's idea...just wish I had the funds, lol. Everything has gone for suspension/irs stuff/wheels/tires (don't have the wheels and tires yet).

That's actually the best way to break it in. Run it hard.

I had a tune in my car at 1100 miles and I am putting a whipple on at 1800 miles. I had the rear suspension out of it at 1300 miles

These are strong engines, but as with anything there will be failures due to manufacturing defects. Normally stuff like that will show up sooner rather than later so if you make it 5k miles or so (ran hard not babying it) you should be safe.

I always go by the saying to break it in like you expect it to run 50k miles later. So I run them hard from the get go.

+1
A lot of times when I see complaints of oil consumption they also mentioned babying the car when it was new.

Never a too soon to tune time. Take the car from the dealer to the track. Flash it and race it like you stole it.

Give us a call if there's anything we can help you with.

Thanks, Jared

I would wait until the first oil change.. see if you run into any problems. If not, tune away! I tuned at 6K
