Yes it is what some refer to as a pumpkin .
You can take your current carrier and regear it or grap a take off from someone like Shelby. They are starting to show up also in auto recycling yards.

Is a 3.55 to 3.73 gear change worth it? Since i have already 3.55 i can just switch the gear only?
Depends on what you want and how you drive your car. For me 3.15s are fine because I like winding out the gears and like the extra MPG but if you want to exit out the corners faster for canyon carving or track days and need more gear multiplication 3.55s or 3.73s are for you.

Started my change out. I only have a few hours after work to play with it.
I was happy to see that the rear vert support can stay on as there is enough clearance. The Blackheart cat back came in handy.

First off, thanks to fordguys550 for this post it inspired me change out my gearing also.

I was able to make the swap with the car on floor stands and just used a 25 year old Craftsman floor jack to lower and raise the carrier. Several videos on haft shaft removal out there as a reference. Once the half shafts are removed , drive shaft disconnected and vent tube pulled out and only 4 bolts to remove it drops very easily. Exhaust also has to be removed but the vert bracing can stay in place.

I used the SCT tuner to reprogram with the updated gearing. That’s all that was needed for me but be advised it’s a manual.

After 18,000 miles with the 3.15 on the 3.7 the switch to 3.55 was a greater gain than the tune. Yes its out of 1st and 2nd earlier but not by much. 6th is no longer a dog . The 3.7 power band is at home with the gearing and at 2000rpm at 65 in 6th still has an economy attribute.

I got my first whiplash complaint from the copilot as it does pull quicker.
