This will have to be the most economical exhaust upgrade. Looking at the sales forums gt owners are almost giving their's away.

If you feel like making a trip to Texas, you can have mine for free.
Thanks for your offer, would like to have it, but unfortunately TX is quite the drive for me. I'll keep looking in AZ.

Thanks!

Does it make a difference whether it's an auto or manual?
If you're asking if there's a difference between the automatic and manuals piping for fitment, I wouldn't think so.

When I did this to my 2010 V6, I found that Ford did have different mufflers for the Manual GT and Automatic GT between 2011-2013 model years. The Manual GT muffler was a bit more open and less restrictive than the automatic. I do not know if they continued this trend for the S550, it would be intetesting to find out.

For reference, the GT exhaust I got came from a manual.

Just installed my GT exhaust (thanks again carnut). Pretty happy with what I heard on my short drive home. Definitely a deeper tone at the lower rpm.

Keep us all informed after you get a few miles on it.

Also maybe get a quality sound clip.

I'm looking to doing this mod very soon within a few weeks.

Any issues with the install? Straight forward?

Yes, very straight forward. Remove the hanger from each muffler. Remove the hangers from each pipe behind the differential. Unbolt the clamps after the catalytic converters. Wiggle/pull the V6 exhaust off. Put the GT exhaust on in reverse.

I wonder if anyone has tried the GT catback with a muffler delete on the V6. I'm sure someone has done it on the GT.

From the outside, the GTs resonator looks the same as our V6s. I can't confirm if it is or not.

If it is the same, maybe the wider pipe would change the tone slightly.

This means that any catback meant to fit the stock gt cat pipes will fit our car. I have a sr gt x pipe on mine
Going with an after market catback seems like a good idea but I wonder if the 3 inch tubing would hurt power or torque on a 3.7l engine. Bigger isn't always better. The GT swap looks like a great idea, although the price of the takeoffs in the St Louis area have skyrocketed in the last few weeks. Anybody between St Louis and Springfield IL wanting to unload one at a reasonable price, PM me!

Hopefully it wouldn't affect it too much. Most people are messing around with this for the sound anyway, with any performance gains just being a nice bonus.
