Pretty sure someone else here did a build exactly like you. Almost feels like you're the same guy and are reposting your own thread lol.

That would probably Justin (nightparade) he lives in Houston, we've been drifting together for years, and I would be remiss if I didn't say his old EB wasn't a huge influence on me!

So the car has been getting easier to drift as I've been getting more and more seat time (what a surprise :headbonk:) and I think the next step is suspension. As such, I had my friend come out and measure/sketch out some arms for the car so SPL Suspension in Austin could prototype some adjustable jams.

So hopefully soon we will have some more really high quality adjustable arms for you guys that are looking for a more track oriented setup!

No new cool drift photos for now, but here's a neat one from a rainy night not too long ago after pulling the T Bird back in the garage.

Hey man, I just saw you're from San Antonio. Are there any meetups you frequent? Where do you compete for the drift events? I didn't even realize there were any nearby.

I don't usually go to meets, unless hanging with my friends in the garage counts.

There are drift events once a month out at SA Raceway. If you get on their facebook page, they will keep it updated with event dates, prices, registration info, etc.

I went to Japan and had an amazing time of course.

We happened upon a Japanese Heritage show in Odiba and I got LOTS of photos. Here's a handfull.

I managed to spend right at my budget so when I got back I ordered the Tomei Ti exhaust and carbon block off plate from TF-Works.

Here's a cool shot on the way to a drift event. Go track your car with your friends. It's the best.

SPL arms and exhaust should be done and installed later this month. Photos incoming I'm sure.

Yeahhhhhhhh exhaust showed up today. So incredibly excited to ditch 45 lbs with just a bolt on. This is just the canister in this photo, but it looks so rad. Even came with a little 3D Tomei emblem.

Also, I got my first round of SPL parts on saturday. Gonna wait until I get the FLCA to put these on so I just have to do the alignment once.

I just wanna get all this done and go driftingggggg

Here ya go, I threw this together just for you:

It's not my favorite sound, but with all stock engine parts, it's better than I was expecting honestly.

But good god, it is LIGHT. 13 lbs is no joke. Plus, it looks cool. I put on the carbon plate to block off the empty exhaust hole as well.

As far as the SPL arms go, no they're not listed yet because they don't actually exist yet lol. These are the first, and we're gonna test these out, along with the FLCA and some cut stock knuckles to see how it does before they're sold publicly.

I will definitely let you guys know when they're available, it should be by spring (hopefully).

It's been a very productive month. I installed some little stuff to make the car more livable: replaced all interior bulbs with LEDs, wired in a third brake light flasher so people wouldn't rear end me, put on hood struts because I'm lazy, and put in the Steeda rear subframe inserts.

I also installed a JLT intake (which is comically large) so I could get fun turbo noises:

But onto the good stuff. The suspension/steering stuff.

My buddy Russell (walkerpromotorsports on FB or mcrussellpants on IG) has been hard at work figuring out how to maximize front steering setup while retaining the stock dual pivot design. This is the first of the prototype suspension that he's basing everything off of. You can see the bump steer corrected outer tie rod, adjustable tension rod, and adjustable front lower control arm.
38644074955_3353a90f98_z.jpg

He came down on New Years and we spent some time test fitting everything. Here's the final cut knuckles. I still need to pull the hubs off, clean, and paint them.

27763386329_0252e2388c_b.jpg

As we were installing we noticed a couple issues: first off, the FLCA is not completed so we were attempting to install this with the stock unit. Second, the thread pitch on the turnbuckle for the outer tie rod was wrong (oops) so putting those on was out of the question. But with hopes still high, we went ahead and put on the tension rod and the modified knuckle to see if we gained any angle. Long story short, it's impossible to do this with the stock FLCA because as it approaches lock, the OEM bushing begins to flex and pull the steering back. Also, the supplied sway bar endlinks with the BC coilovers would bind because they're basically the OEM design just shortened.

So back to the drawing board. Knuckles are good, tension rods are good (and installed), we just need the new FLCA to be finished, fix the thread pitch on the outer tie rods, and build a new, adjustable, sway bar endlink.
Slowly, but surely, we're getting there.
Installed SPL Tension rods

Thanks a lot man, crazy to me how far it’s come in only 8 months. I like big loud v8s too, this is just easier to work on!

Got the outer tie rods on and painted the knuckles yesterday, as well as figured out a setup for the adjustable sway bar endlinks. Hopefully they'll be done next weekend.

We finally got all the front SPL suspension as well as cut knuckles on.

1. Rack spacers of course

2. Trim inner tie rods

3. Lots of extra room to go
39461405384_5fae971be0_b.jpg

4. Install FLCA

5. Bolt it all up and check clearances

6. Decent enough for a still daily driven car!

Also, pretty cool seeing everything at full lock.

It probably netted me about 10 degrees or so over stock, which is nothing crazy, but for a bolt on solution that still retains all the factory mounting points, I dig it. Just driving around with it, there's a lot more steering feel and you can definitely tell there's additional angle there now.
