I totally understand it, I did it myself to start with (first time working on any car anything) at a rent-a-shop place over 8 hours. But then I couldn't justify spending more time and money on that since the noise was there so I paid another $200 something to get a shop to take a look and fix it, they swapped the bumpstops and said it should fix it but didn't work for the noise. They're taking another look today and it will hopefully solve the problem.

I wonder if there will be any surge in activity on the V6 forum when the EcoTec guys start having turbo failures...

Doubtful because they won't be making anymore of our car now so if they're failing they'll either have to get another Eco or upgrade to the GT.

USMCtoARMY While I was at Steeda today, Mike thought it might have been one of the bearings up front so you could take a look at that. Either that, or could have been what I had going on which was the bottom piece of the front strut top mount.

I thought it was the strut mount too and replaced it with a new one. worked for like two days. it's driving me insane I can't locate this issue. obviously it is something that occurred on the install. I rule out endlinks (replaced), strut mount (replaced), and seating of spring (twice pulled and reinstalled). Thst part that blows my mind was when I reinstalled and it disappeared for a couple of days then returned.

Motor Mounts! I do not like the idea of using spacers for the strut tower brace.

And I do also have the K Brace!

Looks like both motor mounts and cowl brace to me.

How hard is it to install motor mounts?
Actually very easy considering what they are. Both mounts can be accessed from above. So 2 jack stands, a floor jack to jack up the motor one side at a time, and a long 3/8" extension are all that's needed to install. Took me about an hour to install both.

Which mounts did you use? Currently I'm looking at the GMS mounts which give a drop of .5in.
I used the BMR mounts. $30 cheaper then GMS and provide the same drop.

Just as a note, you will get a noticeable increase in NVH. I am working to create some softer bushings in the hopes of absorbing a bit more of the vibration.

I suppose more NVH is to be expected with the type of bushings used. Might as well do it anyway since I'm going to focus on handling instead of power adder for now.
