So I was asking some more questions to the metra guys, and it turns out they are making a plug and play factory amp bypass/replacement and it coming out this spring (according to the video).
Well, crap, Racemaster pointed out something I didn't catch. I don't know if it'll work or not. And I was all excited too!
From metra tech support.
Our 99-5840CH will be able to be installed in amplified vehicles, due to the fact that the kit does have an option in the settings for you to decrease the voltage that is being sent to the factory amplifier. Unfortunately at the moment we don't have a bypass harness, but we are coming out with our own DSP module in the near future. Which will allow you to keep the factory radio and add aftermarket amps to your system. Thank you.. [ame]
