Honestly these rumors keep getting crazier and crazier every day. This is getting ridiculous. Putting that engine in any Ford car makes no sense at all.
Heck... makes plenty sense to me cause they'd sale every one they could stuff in there.

It's also would kick a lotta arse!

Can you imagine a 2.3L s/c sitting atop a DOHC, DI, 429? Good Lord have mercy on us all for the pre-lust!

Anybody notice anything funny in this pic? If there's coming a revival of the 69/70 Musclestangs, then I'm counting my pennies on a 19/20 B429 and a possible 19/20 B302 (advancement of the current 350 platform changed over to a CPC 5.0).

Out of interest, do you know which Shelby Regional Director this was? :)
I'll check. :)

Really? Ford went through way more trouble to build the original Boss 429.

"Bob delved into the Boss 429's glory in an area that took us off guard. Instead of gushing over the aluminum-headed engine with its heavy-duty crank, rods, and pistons, he says, "The Boss 429 was the first American car to come with 60-series tires."

Wide, low-profile tires are great, but how big a deal are they? Shod with the fatter F60x15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, Mustang test mules were breaking spindles and strut rods on the bumpy section of the Dearborn test track. Bob explained a major issue most of us don't know about Boss 429s: "Because of the big tires, Ford had to reengineer the suspension. Everything on the '69 Boss 429 front suspension is unique except the lower control arms."

It's a well-known fact that Ford lost money on every Boss 429. The reason is much more than the special Kar Kraft assembly line in Brighton. "There are more than 300 unique components on these cars," Ed says. "I counted them all. That includes the special bolts and hardware, drivetrain, and suspension. That's why it cost so much to get the engine in. And that's why Ford lost money."

Well, I believe it would be N/A and the GT500 would have FI.

Ford world dominance is fine by me.

When they first put out that picture with the (2013) Boss, it might not have meant much to us. Now with the talk of the new car being NOT a Shelby, and this talk of a 7.0...it looks like Ford telling up to keep the Boss series in mind.

Actually according to former Ford engineer BmacIL there will be a GT500. Check his posts.

Some of us believe there will be a 2019 Boss 429.

Likely way more here believe there won't be, which I fully understand.

What kind of power can this engine make? While still being emissions legal of course. 600, 700?

If Ford does in fact produce a NA mega-horsepower engine for the masses, they will have once again shown the automotive industry that they have some of the best engineers in the business IMO.

Just think about that for a minute...a NA Mustang that competes with the likes of the ZL1 & Hellcat :hail:

The recent AMG 6.2L (378cid) could be used as a guide...

From R&T on 04/02/14

"After eight years of service, the AMG 6.3 (6208cc, to be exact) V8 is almost dead. You might not know it by the frequency at which cars with '63' scrawled on their trunks continue to appear in dealerships, but once the current C63 coupe and sedan cease production, AMG big all-motor V8 will die with them.

These engines deliver around 500 normally aspirated horsepower and around 460 lb-ft, depending on tune and application, from what feels like 0 rpm all the way to a 7000-plus-rpm redline. In its ultimate form, in the SLS AMG Black Series, the hand-built monster produced 622 hp."

I believe the Boss 429 legacy is meaningful to some important people at Ford.

IMHO it would be a huge hit for them if they did a 2 year 50th anniversary run, bigger than any of these great new Shelby cars, as much as I'm a huge fan of them.

We'll see. :)

I'm not saying by the pic that there will be no GT500... I believe a GT500 is coming and here will be a GT350 in 2018 to accompany it. So the lineup in 2018 may very well likely be:

18MY GT350 (likely last year),
18MY GT500
18MY GT500KR
Optional mention - low production # 18MY "428CJ" preceding the Boss 429

And for 19MY I believe the lineup will look like the following:
19MY Mach 1
19MY Boss 302 (GT350 setup w/ 5.0L CPC w/ DI)
19MY Boss 429 - Ford's return to the HiPo big block
19MY GT500

The 14/15 Z/28 made over 500hp in that configuration (pushrod v8). The DOHC w/ DI on a 6.2L punched out to 7.0L should easily hit 650+hp and still be able to meet emissions with a two-key setup.

I'm familiar with his posts. I said "talk of".

Starting a sentence with "actually" is very annoying.

Actually, you don't know anything about it, in actuality.

See?

That would be bonkers.........in a very good way! That would be a fantasy line-up for me. Sadly, most of my fantasies don't come true :headbonk:
