Why Ford? Why?
Sponsored
Did I blink my eyes and miss something? So why safe to assume no '17 GT500? Things are very fluid with halo musclecar car offerings from Ford, GM and Chrysler. If GM will be bringing a high HP variant of the Camaro to market and/or Chrysler will give the Hellcat twins a HP bump, it's hard for me to imagine Ford not answering with something big!Why Ford? Why?
MY 2017 will start showing up soon. We would have heard something by now.Did I blink my eyes and miss something? So why safe to assume no '17 GT500? Are you thinking that FP is involved in the launch of facelifted 2018 models? I don't believe that it works that way. If I read correctly, you are HOPEFUL that the Mach1 will come down the line before the any specialty model like a GT500, or Bullitt, etc. Like everyone else here, you probably have some history with the model that you are hopeful about. I can understand that very well -- in fact I have owned a '68 GT500KR and still have a 68 GT350 convertible. And I do remember very well riding my bicycle at 15 years old to the local Ford dealer a couple of miles from house just to gawk at the new '69 Mach 1's that arrived that day. I understand...this thread is all about speculation and we all tend to speculate in the direction of our preferences first. My preference happens to be for a GT500 5.0 or 5.2 TT coming in between 725-750 HP. Whatever comes next, I don't believe we will be disappointed!Oh, I've got a feeling Ford WILL respond with something big..........just not for '17MY. Maybe not even for '18MY as they'll have their hands full with the facelift launch and, hopefully, a Mach 1 :ford:
But not the ZL1 AND the Z/28. The GT350 did come out. And are the ZL1s even on the street yet, or are they still vaporware? Heck, people are getting their 2017 GT350s already. Is the 1LE handling package even available yet? Ford had the PP ready immediately when the new model came out.But is there a reason for the 3-4 year wait on a new platform? Hell the ZL1 came out the following year this time around.
No, I don't think Ford Performance will be involved in the base models.......but Ford will likely want to roll out the base models first, then the SE/High Performance editions. It keeps Mustang in the news/press for a longer period of time. Are you thinking that FP is involved in the launch of facelifted 2018 models?
Yes, reason is they are making money on their investment! The S550 is enjoying success, making only minor changes between model years. If acceptance by the market was not there, they would have changed the marketing plan, but why should they...are blowing away the competition with the current offering! But is there a reason for the 3-4 year wait on a new platform?
