From my limited understanding of this... The 19x9 is about half an inch wider than the 19x8.5? Meaning the latter would fit just fine on a car built for the former?

If so, what do you think the chances are that one could order the 50th package wheels as an 'accessory' or spare part? I need two sets of rims on my EB (summer and winter tyres) was thinking the 19x8.5 would be cheaper and nice dr winter :)
Assuming the main difference between the 2 wheels is the 1/2" difference in width, and the offset and spokes are the same and clear the brakes, it should be possible to do this. In fact, I am looking at doing the exact same thing, which is to purchase the EcoBoost PP wheels, which are also 19" x 9". The wheels, at a minimum, should be available as replacement parts but hopefully some of these will be offered as accessories from Ford Racing.

From past experience, when that was done, it kept the wheel prices reasonable.

From the PRI write up I just posted elsewhere.

One thing I can confirm from sticking my head under the S550 rear fenders is there appears to be a large amount of extra room inside the rear fenders for more tire width. This S550 at PRI had some optional 20" wheels (apparently the 20x9" wheel that you can opt on most models, =
=
My question is what are the chances the 20" wheels will fit on PP cars?

Depends entirely on brake caliper clearance. If they are close a wheel spacer would help but only to a point. Then you risk damage to the wheel studs among other things.

You won't see those until the car has hit the streets and people measure their wheels. Plus those wheels you add for winter use still need to fit the brake calipers and offset won't well you that.

Stuck with Performance Pack Wheels

My plan is to order the 2015 Mustang with the following=

GT Premium, 6M, PP, Nav.

I don't like the gloss black wheels...My plan is to have them powder coated in either Ingot Silver to match or maybe a gun metal. Something to that effect. Maybe just striped and polished.

Does anyone have an idea what it would cost to powder coat a set of 4 wheels?

$75 to $100 a wheel is what i've paid, this does not include unmounting and mounting tires. You usually have to have that done at a tire shop and just bring the rims to your powder coater.

Do we have specs on offset/backspacing/lug-pattern/etc yet?
Just got confirmation from @FordService on Twitter on the performance pack offsets:

Ford Service @FordService Follow Hi again! 'Stangs have a 5 x 114.3mm bolt pattern; the offset for the Perf Pckg wheels is 19 x 9.0x 45mm & 19x 9.5x 52.5mm ...

There are no special considerations for the 19x9.0 wheels & performance brakes. Hope that helps! ^SL

That is interesting news! That means the 2015 wheels are tucked into the fenders a tad more than S197 wheels. Meaning if you took S197 wheels and mounted them on a 2015 S550 they would stick out just a tad more than normal, but only by about 3-5mm. This means they should in theory work just fine assuming the wheel spoke design clears the brakes.

I probably will be a test case for this using the 19" wheels I have from my 2010 GT sitting in the basement. Based on the fact that these were not available for the '10 with the Brembo brake upgrade and what was hinted at by one of the Ford people posting in here, it probably won't fit because of brake clearance.

You could update the starting post with more details now that we know option codes and which tire is on what. The only question is 051A/641 tires. They are not listed among the pirelli tires in their press release (18s) but Goodyear only says standard fitment. So not sure on those options. The rest are known.

Does the 50th Anniv. package wheels have the same 255/40ZR19 96W P Zero Nero all-season tires? I would think so.

Almost certainly yes. The chances they would order a second set of tires in the same size is...minuscule.

Both the PZero and PZero Nero are available in 255/40/19 on the Mustang.

I'm hoping the dealer will be wiling to swap on some summer tires for me for a decent deal. Don't understand why the 20's and PP are the only ones that come with summer tires.
