I'd say on average I shift around 2200-2500 RPM. There are certainly times I'll shift into the highest gear possible much sooner (like when I see how bad traffic is and I there's no opportunity for fun. So I might as well save gas).

I wouldn't worry to much about what other people think of your shifting. It's all situational and preference. You shift when you want to, the Mustang will do the rest.

Everybody who drives manual has a different driving habit. Even people I have taught deviated and eventually formed their own unique style. That's the nature of the beast. Usually people who are complaining about shifts usually stall out the first the minute they are behind the wheel. Also I notice you have an Ecoboost, looks like you posted in the V6 section by mistake. You're more than welcome here though. With the low end grunt of the EB you shouldn't have to wind it out anyways.

FYI in a early Motor Trend road test on a 2015 Ecoboost stang 6 speed manual, they found performance was better shifting by high boost vs high rpm's was better.

I usually shift around 2500k rpm. The funny thing is when I would drive just to get the best MPG, I would shift at 2000-2200 rpm. But I was getting better MPG when I was shifting around 2500.

I shift ~2000-2200 rpm in normal driving and ~2500 rpm to keep up with the flow of traffic. Shifting around 2500 rpm feels smoother though.

I shift around 2700 to 3000....depends on what gear though. I don't normally bog it much. and yeah, shifting to 2nd at a slightly higher rpm helps the trans engauge smoother

I shift around 3000rpm, depending on what gear I'm in.

I shift 1st to 2nd around 2500 rpm's just to get out of first. Around town I shift around 3500 rpm's and kept it in 3rd keeping the rpm's up to 3000 rpm's keeping it from loading up with carbon. Then on the highway blowing it out running it to 5000 to 6000 rpm's. With gas at $2.83 a gallon for 93 octane I'm not into mpg.

All motors are different and have optimal power bands and MPG equilibrium points but I usually don't drive my car for MPG, per say.

Normal driving though, I take it to right around 3k and shift in basically every gear.

I deviate some but that's where I feel I don't have to worry about carbon buildup, etc.

I'm just "shiftless" with my present Cyclonic Pony, but my last 3.7 Cyclone powered vehicle loved to rev to 2800 before shifts...I don't know how that affected engine longevity as I sold it at 165,000 miles. Only oil and filter changes on that motor...no problems whatsoever.
