up to 3800 now and it still has the factory oil from when it was built in February 2015. Should I go ahead and change the oil due to age even though the miles are still low? I just bought the car less than a month ago and apparently whoever owned it before me rarely drove it. Not sure if the age of oil is an issue, but I'm ready to put full synthetic in it.

I'd change it at that mileage even if it was only 6 mos old. Maybe its' just me, but I don't run the first oil change out to 10k miles. Once broken in I change it.

I would change it due to age. I am going to run mine 5k and let the dealer hear it and change it the first time. I do not want the BBQ tick

I have changed the oil every 6 months because of time, but also because it's normally close to having another 5k on the car.

With a used car you have no idea of past service done unless the dealer has a record. For good measure, anything not documented should be serviced after you buy it.

Yep, change it. I won't get many miles on mine each year because of winter and it's a toy/weekend car, but I changed it already like Genexer had said because of time. And it only has 2,700 miles on it.

Change it being used.

But 6 months is on the edge of not needed if not putting a ton of miles on. Really 1 year or 7500 miles on the OEM blend oil is ok. That is what the car's computer goes by; I am at 11 months and 8% on the meter left still, but only about 4500 miles

Ford engineers and scientists did this for a reason with more knowledge than armchair experts on the internet when you google it.

As others have stated, change the oil since it is over a year old!

Replace it. It is cheap anyways to get a oil change.

Did you buy it from a dealer? If so and they didn't change it I would not go back there anytime soon.
