Any avid bikers plan on getting a hitch receiver?

Also, on the install: Did you all paint the frame where you widened it to get hardware through? I don't plan any winter driving, but I can see this as a spot for cancer to start....[/quote]

This is why i ground the washers down versus cutting the frame. Hate rust...

Could just spray some plasti dip on it, but for winter driving the hitch gets treated just like the rest of my underbody. Weekly touchless car washes that has underbody spray.

I just learned a trick to keep the hitch bolt from loosening up today. When tightening the bolt, wiggle your bike carrier left and right while ratcheting at the same time until it doesn't tighten anymore. After a day of aggressive driving with a 50lb bike swinging back and forth, the bolt did not budge at all, because it use to get a few turns loose after driving for a day.

I'm bumping this old thread because last night I tried and failed to install a Draw-tite hitch on my 19 GT fastback.
I lowered the exhaust and got the bolts into the frame rails. But when I tried to get the hitch into place, that's where I failed. Mostly because it's not a one-person job. You need four (or more) hands to lift the hitch into place and pull the wires.

I'll visit my regular shop and see if they can install it.

...or make a lifting jig like this one and tackle it yourself. Looks like it took me about 2 1/2 hours. Had a devil of a time with a couple of the pull wires. Otherwise it went smoothly. Oh, you have a draw-tite, might be different. Mines a Curt.

That's a great solution, Joe. Nice work.
The basic layout of the Curt and Draw-Tite are the same, so your jig should work for either.

Looks like you removed your mufflers too?
One review over on etrailer.com says you have to disconnect the wiring harnesses from the active exhaust. I didn't know that at the time.

I had recently cut the tail pipes to install my Roush cat back mufflers so removing them was a cinch and was pretty much mandatory for the hitch install. .

My local shop installed a Draw tight on my 2019 GT. Took them about 45 min.
works great.

I've seen several pics of Curt hitches on convertibles.
I would like to mount the Curt 11405 on my 2017 V6 convertible.
However, etrailer says Curt won't fit on the convertible, that only the DrawTite will:

Any reason I might have a problem with the Curt 11405 on my 2017 V6 convertible??

Oh, THAT kind of bike. HAHAHA Yes, I love riding my bicycle, but if I add a hitch it will be to tow my motorcycle. ;)

Let's not be misleading. There's a difference between a biker and a cyclist.
