So another random video figured you all might like....

After being asked this question like 358,584 times in the past 20 years....
"Why does ______'s dyno read high, and ______'s dyno read low"

I finally broke down and just explained ONE of the variables that cause this.
AND, hopefully show people that the only way to get "real results"

IS, to make sure after every modification, and every tune.
You ALWAYS use the same dyno shop, same machine, etc.

At least THEN, you are eliminating ONE major variable. :)

Hope you enjoy!
Erik

When measuring things some always feel the need to inflate the number for some reason. Cool video learn something new everyday.

I stumbled on the air temp correction manipulation on accident about 10 years ago. Running a twin turbo Viper, it took me several passes to identify why the heck the numbers were all over the place. Once I looked at the uncorrected graphs, I quickly realized what was happening. This was my first time running a car this high of power that also had SIDE PIPES. The hot exhaust was blowing right into the dyno computer station. We had to relocate the computer and we also setup a shield for it. We ended up flat-lining the 248c regardless anyway

I think its hilarious that people care so much to fake numbers intentionally. Why not just actually make the power you want, rather than fake it?! I have my doubts that this is a really big problem though. I can only imagine the reaction I would get from my current dyno guy if I told him I wanted to heat up his sensor to raise my numbers.. he'd probably slap me in the face and tell me to never come back.

you know what annoys me about this industry more than the idea of faked dyno numbers? fake reliability and fake street cars.

Perfect example of how they can get skewed accidently.

I have NO idea why people fake stuff, but it's dumb
