Completed the 6r80 swap and got the trans temp enabled on my cluster. Cruising around tonight, no WOT, the trans temp was floating around 205.

I don't really have a baseline, is that normal? It was about 90 degrees and humid.

Also, am noticing some heat coming out from the side of the console to the left of the shifter. Do auto cars have additional insulation or something?

Thanks!

any where around 200* is normal temps. My car came with the auto the side of the tunnel gets warm, but I think thats more from the cats than the trans.

Nothing to worry about just make sure when you get to 15k miles upgrade your factory fluid fill to a better solution like Amsoil synthetic Atf, it will knock 10 degrees of heat off your current #'s!

205 is normal. Highest I've ever seen is 210F. Usually stays around 200F.

This is stock 6R80 and converter. I'm about to go to a built trans and Circle D, I will see how temps change with those.

Gonna be dumping the factory fill for amsoil synthetic, also adding a deep pan and diptick in another 7k miles!

Are you gents getting any interior heat on the left side of center console?

Guess my temps are fairly normal, but maybe I'm missing some heat shield or something

It's been about 100 outside temp here and I see 205 occasionally. I have read that the bypass thermostat does not even open until 190.

As far as heat on the center console, I've never noticed but I've never looked. I'm curios now.
