Well damn I think the 7th gen Mustang has some competition! Haha 0-60 in 1.9 seconds, 0-100 in 4.2 seconds, and quarter mile in 8.9 seconds. All of this with a 620mile range. Oh and it has 4 seats (2+2 configuration). Unfortunately it is said to cost $200k+

:lol::lol::lol:
They can't even make enough Model3 to get out the door.
Will this car actually make an appearance by 2020?? I highly doubt it.
forget this car... can we get the hyperloop worked on first?

So will 1/4 mile tracks start installing charging stations at the end of the breakdown lane?

If Porsche couldn't make the 918 Stick - why would Tesla be different?

Tax credits and subsidies are propping up the EV industry right now. If those die, things will not end up good for Tesla.

What's funny is their new electric tractor trailers are touted to be able to do 0-60 (no load) in 5 seconds.

As for production, my guess is....the price will be sufficiently high that production shouldn't have an issue keeping up with demand.

Honestly, I like the idea of Teslas, no emissions and all, instant power.. but I've never found any of them fun to drive. they all feel... dunno, maybe sterile? I get the similar feeling from the GTR. I LOVE them from an engineering POV but something about them is just.. lacking.

I feel that way about a lot of cars though, mostly ones that are automatic. I've never been much of a fan of "push button, go!" I know manuals are often slower now, but I find them more enjoyable, and driving is where I get most of my enjoyment.

The P100D has no issues sticking. With the roadster having a larger batter and already proven to have excellent traction, I could see them making it stick.

I think he means "stick around" as in sales after the tax credits go away.

I wasn't talking about traction. I was talking about being able to sell enough of the things to keep production alive. If Porsche couldn't do it - just saying.

Tesla already loses $13000 on every vehicle they sell...and they somehow to continue to produce.

Government subsidies and low / zero interest loans.
Not to mention tax credits to buyers that make it even viable to buy an electric / hybrid in the first place.

Same thing that propped / continues to prop up the U.S. Corn ethanol industry. If most people knew how much of their tax dollars were literally propping up "alternative energy" industries they'd riot.

Interesting fact...when the U.S. first started ethanol production from corn on a wide scale (meaning the government encouraged farmers with $$$ to start producing corn for ethanol) it took MORE than a gallon of gasoline to produce 1 gallon of ethanol.

We tried to copy Brazil...except the "experts" missed the fact that Brazil produces ethanol as by-product from their biggest crop - sugar cane.

It's getting bad. My local WaWa recently installed 10 or so Tesla branded charging stations. Asked a former co-worker about it - he works in that company - said WaWa was given BIG tax breaks / subsidies to build them and label them "Tesla". I've seen TWO Teslas using the chargers in the 4 or so months they'd had 'em - and I'm in that WaWa or driving by multiple times a day.
