Anyone think that if I could get my automatic 2016 GT down to about 3500 pounds that it would be about as fast as a 2018 GT with the 10 speed in the 1/4 mile?

Though logic dictates it should be, for some reason I feel it wouldn't be.

Thoughts?

I was told that the EPA picks the average after the motor is tested in various conditions.
Hot/Cold whatever......

Thanks for the reply, but I think you misunderstood my question.

It isn't a question of if it IS possible to get my GT down to 3500 pounds (I know it is as there are multiple places where considerable weight can be shed) but rather, when I do get it down to that weight, if it would post near identical 1/4 mile times to the automatic equipped 2018 GT?

2018 mustang just won't stop growing on me!

What did he see that made him scream "I knew it"? The way the track is set up, looks like you won't know your e.t till you see a time slip.
Was the 9.24 on the board the 1/8?

Spinning tires during launch, AND pedaling it?!

Hit me with all the street outlaw camera angles you want, that looked like a 2.4 60foot to me.

Here is my 1.9ish 60 foot.

S550 cobra jet is solid axle, I would look at ford performance catalog to find out if it’s possible that swap to a solid rear. If s550 cj is completely different from a street legal s550 mustang, then nvm!!!

So this car is faster and cheaper than a gt350? other than the handling (which I am assuming has improved with the 18) whats the motivation to buy the gt350?

Slap on the new 2650 TVS to an 18 ,which keeps new car warranty ,and you are still probably out the door for less than the GT 350.

I believe the GT350 still has a bit of an advantage as it does still make more top end power.

That said I'll love to see how a tune wakes these up.

If you've ever driven the GT350 in anything other than a straight line, you wouldn't be asking this question. Also, sound.

As no ones seen the 2018 PP or PP2 in anything but a straight line this is still up in the air.

True but I don't want to sacrifice handling capabilities for straight line performance. I was just curious if a totally stock 15-17 GT could match a 2018 in the 1/4 mile if it was brought down to the 3500 pound mark.
