Carbon Wheel - Who wants one?

Hi Guys n Gals,

Just wanted to put a feeler out there to see what interest there would be for a carbon fiber steering wheel in the UK market?

I am a California based business, but actually home for me is Lancashire, so keeping some inventory over in the UK is something I am planning to do.

Here is a sample shot of the wheel. Custom stitching and top stripe colors can also be done.

Right now, I am having a batch of wheels made to have ready for Christmas, all will be exactly as in the above photo - black stitching and red top stripe.

I also have a custom Shelby leather steering wheel project which some of you may have already seen in another thread. That product is still going ahead, and will be available to order soon.

How many people would be interested in purchasing this carbon wheel?

To give a rough guide price, I am considering the below:

600 GBP with core wheel supplied.

695 GBP with no core wheel supplied.

I would require a core wheel sending to me (UK address to keep postage cheap) or alternatively an extra charge can be added to the purchase price if you want to keep your OEM wheel.

Please reply in this thread with feedback on the product and pricing...

Thanks, Tim

That does look good. I would be interested subject to price, but would want either blue or black ring on the top.

And I don't know if I want want an exchange of the old wheel, again subject to cost.

Absolutely, I expect many owners will opt to keep their OEM wheel.

I plan to offer 2 prices, one with a core exchange and one without, to give people an option.

I think it's rather odd that we're being asked what we'd be happy to pay:shrug:

You should know you're manufacturing, distribution costs and target profit margins.... shouldn't your price be based on this? Rather than us guessing a price.

Based on the above pic, I'd rather alcantara for the non carbon areas...:)

^^ this^^ in its entirety ;)

Do like the look of the wheel though and would be interested in knowing ball-park figures for each option.

Think of a number. Double it.

If that comes in at less then £500 I'll be surprised.

Again, those are rough numbers and am seeking feedback on interest.

i really like these and i have a spare steering wheel ready to be re-trimmed. not sure i can justify £600 tho. for me to get a GT350 rep its about £150 (i know there is more work involved in yours)
Glad you like the product.

Pricing is not finalized yet; I just threw out some ballpark figures so you guys can see *roughly* where I'll be pricing them.

I have a GT350R wheel, which I'm happy with......But based on pricing if I were buying again, I wouldn't be interested at that price point...

Almost £700 for a steering wheel, is a lot in anybody's book.....my wife would think I'd gone mad:D

I don't intend this to be a mass produced item, and realise this will be out of budget for many owners.

I may be able to work on a more competitive price, depending on order numbers once I open up an official list for pre-orders, but it won't be dramatically lower than the ballpark prices I posted.

Got to be honest. I'd be looking to put a big crass tasteless 350 spoiler on the back of mine for that money :D
But do appreciate companies making products easily available to the UK market.

Unfortunately the British Pound isn't worth many of these US dollars at the moment, which doesn't help with the pricing.

I appreciate the honest feedback, and I try to be as competitive with my pricing as possible.

I will have stock on UK soil before Xmas, so the option will be there if people decide to treat their rides :)
