This is why I say that the 5.0 will not be advertised with more than 455HP. << IMO
Im new to the 5.0 world, but not to cars. When i learned of the new 2018's and no power figures, given that the previous bump was just 15hp with DI and all i dont seen more the 455 either. You can run some more compression and they can control it better and be more efficient, but i dont see more then 20 hp jump, MAYBE 25 which would give them 5 more then the SS and would make people "happy" when bragging about on paper stats.. but the 2 injector set up, port and direct doesnt mean tons of power.. look at the D4S system in the FRS/BRZ/86. makes loads of power on boost and e85, nothing on 91/93 and N/A

to me its too close to justify a 25k price difference imo

if the gt goes to 470 which it should, then the voodoo needs a bump to 550 with similar tq increases.
Well, you drive a Hell cat so it's pretty apparent you only care about straight line speed, but a 470HP GT probably isn't going to get anywhere close to a lap time of a GT350, which is what the GT350 is all about. There's a lot of other stuff in that price difference (it's not a $25k difference)

Never judge a book by its cover, ud be surprised how well it handles. Is it a gt350 no sir. It's just a fun toy. Seriously I don't see anyone attacking you for having a jeep. So lighten up.

I've been arguing this same point for months and I'm not a troll as well. I bleed Ford blue, but, I'm what is called a realist.

Ford has already stated the GT350 will remain unchanged for MY18.

With that said, if the 5.0 HP gets bumped, there is no way Ford will push HP close enough to the GT350 to cause potential buyers to hesitate because of performance similarities between the two models. They (Ford decision makers) will not allow that to happen. This is why I say that the 5.0 will not be advertised with more than 455HP. I'm guessing there is more in the works for the next gen, but for now they will not jeopardize the exclusivity of the 350 to win a HP war with the SS Camaro. << IMO
Me thinks the key word there is 'advertised'

Seems as though the '18MY refresh 5.0 may be the best 5.0 yet.

Too bad Ford bastardized the front end

On paper, yes. I think the one to keep for years is going to be the 15-17, though.

I remember when the camaro first came out and thought what a bad ass car. Years later, not much change and I now think its an ugly car until they refined it for '18. It was only a matter of time until people got sick of seeing the same ol' mustang.

And I agree with the growing consensus that this car will see only a modest bump - however there have been subtle hints with the upgrades in clutch, suspension, transmission, and other drive shaft components that they need to adjust to handle the added power.

Some cars age well, some don't. 15-17 Mustang I think will hold up.

Advertised power=actual power.

The new 5.0 won't be underrated..it'll be SAE certified which means if they say it makes..say..460 HP at peak..that's what it'll make within about 2%

I agree. I usually have an eye for these things. Albeit mostly subjective. The early S197 for example. Ugh-galie from the get go.

For me, the S197 still looks good on the outside, though the inside is very dated. I think that if Ford stuck closer to the 2003 concept, it would have aged much better overall.

IMO The S197 started to look dated as soon as the 2010 refresh happened. Well for me even when the 07 GT500 showed up.

I agree had they stuck close to the concept it would have aged much better, but the 05-09 cars aged horribly IMO. A clean New Edge still make me turn my head, a clean 05-09 eh

I agree. But I also believe it would have aged much better if they had not skipped on the rear fender bump until 2010. They were supposed to honor the original and that would have finished the look off right.

I honestly see the S550 as a continuation of the New Edge design to a degree. Maybe that's why SN95 and New Edge have aged so well, they were ahead of the curve.
