Never said that, but great job with your assumptions in both posts considering you don't know me at all. I'm 37, not really looking for "street points" or "IG cred". Didn't realize you couldn't go to car shows AND the track. By car scene i meant both.
Then if you truly want a track car, buy a GT350.

Or are we flat-earthing rocket scientists about to make a public stunt?

I vote GT350. Don't see a lot of them in the wild.

Wait, the earth isn't flat? :D

I am leaning towards the GT350 at this point.

GT350 no doubt, and thats coming from someone who likes to mod his cars. Its just too special and uncommon to pass up.

Track = Road Course? = GT350 with coolers

Having tracked a 2015 GT Auto for a year more for fun than serious:
3 differentials
Roasted base calipers n replaced w 6pot Brembos.
2 wheel bearings
No trackside adjustable camber plates stock front
No trackside adjustable rear cambler links rear
Constantly changing trans n diff fluid w every oil change after track weekend.
Having to jack w air ducting and routing to keep heat down.
Base suspension over compliant...

If you really intend on buying a helmet and tracking:
Plan on spending time and money modding 2015 GT suspension and not recovering anything on that down the road.
Otherwise:
PP1 2018 may have similar track heat/durability issues in Southern US.
PP2 2018 not avail yet eta March and coolers and track use warranty unknown.
1SS 1LE warranty covers track use if unmodified and comes w full coolers, camber plates, etc ready for HDPE out of the box.
GT350 comes w coolers (excluding old tech pack used cars).

1SS1LE pricing is $42-44 otd with an unconfirmed $41k.
GT350 ++$60k.
GT PP2 maybe $43-46 otd in March but unknown if coolers, camber plates and warranty coverage for track use.

..now if you want budget 40mph roll racing street hero...
Put a used Whipple first gen headunit on your 2015 for $5k for 650+rwhp street drama.
Or 10k boostworks 800rwhp.
Or 2015+30k more get 2018 PP1 Auto and new gen stage 2 Whipple for 700++rwhp and fast auto trans for quarter mile+ n street.

Without reading all the posts before me....mod your 2017. I'd wait for 2021 or whatever year for a serious change to upgrade.

Considering your 2015 GT only has 5,000 miles on it, you're a perfect candidate for a GT350. (low mile garage queen, that will retain its value well)

You can pick up a low mile used one for relatively "cheap".
used 2016's for around $50k, tech packs generally below $50.
used 2017's for mid $50's
new 2017's for high 50's to $60k

You really shouldn't need to mod the GT350. It lacks the low end torque but a tune or mods aren't really going change the nature of that engine really needing to be wound up higher in the RPM band to hit its power.

I kind of think a 2018 GT PP1 car with auto would be faster and more fun, but they depreciate so fast. What I would actually want is a PP2 with auto, or PP1 with Auto with PP2 wheels.

Yea working from home really cuts down on the miles. I'd probably end up ordering a 2018 GT350.

Although the new auto transmission in the 18 GT is great, I would never get one regardless of how much faster it is. I'm a manual transmission guy through and through, even in the cars i've had that weren't as sporty.

Do you have a 2nd vehicle for DD'ing and random chores? It would suck to rely on a brand new GT350 to pick up groceries and shit from the local Target so some dipsticks can door ding and ram their shopping carts into your doors.

Nah, I used to when I lived in Ohio for the winter, but now in FL I like to just drive my nice car everywhere. I generally park pretty far out away from people and i've been fine for the most part. If I ever have to go anywhere really sketchy I just Uber or we go in my gf's car.

Great choice IMO OP, given that your '15 model had 5k miles. Sure you made out pretty good with the trade in.

Yea, they gave me $27.5k for it, which i thought was pretty decent for a trade in.
