Why do they drop the idle? Most performance tuners actually raise it slightly.

Yeah they lied lol.
No it is true, the install has to be done by a Ford Dealer or an ASE Certified Mechanic or it doesn't maintain the factory warranty.

"Ford Performance and mountune® Power Packs, Handling Packs and select components for Mustangs, Fiesta, Focus, and F-150
Ford Performance and mountune Performance Packs and Components are warrantied for factory-supplied material or workmanship when correctly and completely installed on a late model Ford vehicle by an authorized Ford or Lincoln Dealer, Shelby American, Inc., mountune LLC or an automotive service technician certified by the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This Performance Packs and Components Limited Warranty begins upon dealer installation and registration of the part(s) with Ford Performance and remains in effect for the balance of 36 months or 36,000 miles / 60,000 kilometers, whichever occurs first, calculated from the start date of the manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty."

It was 750 when i first drove it, It has since settled at 600. It's a very clean and well mannered tune that really delivers. Car is now where my scat pack was, probably a little faster. And i don't have to send commands down to the engine room to steer it! lol.

Did you have someone else's tune before this? The factory Tune will idle around 630 for the most part, but will idle as fast as 740-750 under certain conditions. Lund, for example sets the idle at 750 across all the tables. Just seems strange that the Ford power pack tune woul actually drop the idle from stock.

I don't want to do derail this thread, but I thought the back pressure causing a torque loss has long since been busted. It's exhaust gas velocity and scavenging that could cause a loss of low-end torque, not back pressure.
You are exactly right.

Glad to hear you like it. I'm tempted to do this and have the dealer install it but talking with the service writer he didn't know what I was talking about lol. I could easily do this myself but want to keep the warranty.
So after talking to the service writer i've seen a couple of times he directed me to the service manager.

Manager tells me it's about a 3 hour job and $400.00 to do this. Says stock air box has to be taken apart and flashing the computer takes at least an hour. I know this is BS so i'm going to do this myself. I bought my car new 2 years ago 8/28 and have a little over 25,000 miles. I wanted to have a dealer do this for the warranty but i'm not going to pay $400.00 for about an hours work and about 10,000 miles left for the warranty that would cover this install. These guys work on cars all day long. If anything it shouldn't take more than an hour. I've read the PDF procedure to install and seen LMR mustangs video and this job would be an easy job for me even though i've never flashed a car's computer etc. but i'm pretty sure i can do this in about an hour to an hour & half. I already did the sound tube delete which is probably the hardest part of this whole install.

My question is how are you guys saving the factory tune in case i need to uninstall the PP2 and revert back to stock TB and stock airbox?

Just find an ASE certified mechanic and give them $50 to sign off on it, and install it yourself.

I dont care where or how far I just wanted to know the name. Chances are thats not the only dealership they own so I could chase down how many other locations they may have.

Dealer I bought my car from doesnt offer FRPP or Roush parts they are not big enough. So with that being said a dealer would be more likely to deal with me and not screw with me (as much) if I at least buy parts from them.

I dont have anything against the dealer I bought my car from but other than routine maint. they wont be getting anything else from me they are just not big enough.

It is the only one they own ironically. I've known the owner for nearly 15 years now. That has a bit to do with it.

I Don't use a digital readout. seems around 600. Doesn't f-ing really matter. exhaust scavenging doesn't f-ing matter either. What does matter is how Awesomely fast my car is now, and how much more i love it! :headbang:

What do you mean? you have a 5yr /60k mile powertrain. powertrain is all this mod affects. My opinion? It's the Dealer, that's why 400. Plain and simple, i could do the install in about an hour, AFTER I Removed the sound tube, looked at the paperwork for a while and did a dry run and restore of the tune. But bye bye warranty. Look at it like the Cheap Insurance it is.

for the Stock tune, when you upload the new tune, the software first downloads the stock tune and stores it in the tune file under the same name. There is a 'Restore' option when the tune is in the car, Not there when the stock tune is there. How do i know? I uploaded the tune, looked at the options and then restored the original tune w/o doing any mechanical mods before i brought it to the dealer. Also looked at the car with tuner hooked up after i got it back, just to be sure the restore option was there, indicating the Stage II tune Was, in fact, uploaded to the car. You can also set it to octane adjust (knock retard) on and off. Set mine to on, never know where you might get bad gas. these option don't require a tune upload. Good Deal. :ford:

Additional info: I bought a cheap $200 laptop at best buy, a windows PC with a solid-state 36G HD, dedicated to this project. I gave the dealer the PC with the Procal software and tune already downloaded on it. so I got it back with the stock tune on the PC which i promptly copied to mem stick and to my main PC. why? 5 years from now, that's why. ford performance said the other way to go about it is to give the Dealer a Mem stick which they'll copy the now stock restorable tune to. You will also need to include the Procal security code sheet for the dealer. fyi.
