EA017 flows better. Its basically the same discussion as the 500 vs the 820 with the 017 being like the 820.
EA011 = FL820
EA017 = FL500

:thumbsup:

OK so you are agreeing with Ford, use the FL820 for its improve flow and filtering?
Per post #9 and #11 yes.

:cheers:

Heck, I try to run the 820 style on my '13 Explorer too....but I have to trim some pieces to make it work.

So, I see that this thread is all about the Ford and Ford Racing oil filters. Just curious but what about your typical FRAM filter from the autoparts store? Would this not be recommended? Can it be any worse that the factory OEM part? Any better?

I know FRAM makes like 5 different models of oil filter for every application. Heavy Duty, Extreme Performance, Etc., Etc.. Just wondering if the normal one would be an issue.

On another note, I've been using Mobil 1 for oil changes since my first one. If I recall, when I checked their site a while back, apparently Mobil 1 also makes oil filters, including one for the Coyote. I was kind of surprised to find that out as I never knew about it. You definitely never see them in the auto parts stores. At least I never have...

I have used the Fram XG2 with no issues

http://www.fram.com/oil-filters/fram-ultra-synthetic-oil-filter/#2

99+% efficiency, and some great specs.

Due to the price, I usually do not use FRPP. I did break in my current engine with the FRPP Filter though.

I usually stick to Amsoil or NAPA Platinum int he FL820 Style.

Can you get some similar benefits of using this expensive Ford Racing FL-820 by using the FL-820S Motorcraft filter found in most auto parts stores for around $4? Flow, media, etc.

Who knows, I am not interested in saving $10 on an oil filter, the thing that protects our engine the best and is something we only do every 5000 miles why would anyone want to save $10 and risk an inferior filter.

The ford racing site has the motorcraft 820S on there as a cross reference and they both have silicone valve in the description so i would take that as a yes.
