Could anyone recommend a good higher end fool proof polisher? Right now I have the Porter Cable 7424, but it's loud and shakes like crazy, though it gets the job done. I've been thinking about getting something higher end, that will be quieter and smoother, but still good for beginners.

Personally I like the 3” machines more than the 5” for this car, so Adams SK Mini, whatever Griots equivalent is, or the Rupes LHR75

Thanks. I'm thinking about a Rupes LHR 15ES so I can use the pads I already have. Do you have any experience with this machine?

The 15 ES MKII is actually the first one I bought. I have nothing bad to say about it, just found myself reaching for the 3” Adams SK Mini more due to the curves and edges on a lot of the body

I use a PC7424 and it does well. Yea its a little "shaky" LOL but it dopesnt bother me enough to just spend xxx.xx on a upgrade. If I need to use one of my 3" pads instead of the 5.5", I just change backing plates and have at it. I may upgrade to a Rupes or Flex if/when the PC gives out. But until then, it suits my needs just perfect!!!! :)

I've had mine for about 8 years now, so it's held up well. I polish my car fairly often since it's a daily driver and parked outside all day....and it's black and shows every swirl. I figured I'd get something a bit faster and easier on the hands. :) I plan to keep the Porter Cable to use smaller pads with.

You defiantly cant go wrong with the Rupes. Ive been using the PC 7424 for years as well and it is a great DA polisher. Surprisingly a DA I used everyday when i had my detailing business was the Chicago buffer from Harbor Freight. I know there will be people laughing but i purchased it to let my less experienced detailers use so they couldnt tear up my nice machines and i was impressed. It has lasted just as long as the PC and actually has alot more power than the PC. I know your probably wanting the expensive route and id second the Rupes comment. But if your looking to save some cash ive had a great experience with the Chicago as well.

Thank's for all the advice. I ended up with the Torq 22d, which was on sale. I was looking into the Flex 3401 sale, but it sold out and the package deal they were offering was out of my $$$ range. The Torq 22d seem's like a good machine. I only polish my car like once or twice a year so I didn't want to spend $400+. Does anyone happen to use any of the Torq polishers?

The Megs is a fine combo but I don’t think you can beat Sonax Perfect Finish for a 1 step.
Could be true, i remember trying that product out a couple years back and it did do fast wonders for me.

I still have a bottle of 105 and 205 in my garage, how long do they last for? It's probably from like 2010 or so. I'm going to use the Porter Cable for the smaller areas, it's a good machine. I probably should have spent the extra $80 and went with the Flex 3401, but hopefully this Torq 22d works well.
