good news, I'm good to go!

There is an upward bend in the bracing right where it makes contact with the new pipe.

Exhaust vs brace.JPG

Lucky for me we have a 2,000 lb tool of persuasion at work that flattened that right out. I still need to stick a couple of washers on 2 of the bolts, but the braces are back on and no contact so far. I've got about 1/2" of clearance now. Hopefully that will be enough, but I can be more persuasive if I need to. I'll try to get a photo of the after when I can.

The jacks were pretty high... I also felt weird, but I wasn't really cranking on bolts that hard and I made sure not to pull myself in and out using the car. I have an impact gun, so that puts the torque directly onto the bolt instead of pulling the car all around. I also chocked the front wheels so that the car didn't move on me while I was under there. My wife was totally freaked out the whole time, but here I am! The jacks were on the pinch welds. I don't have jacking rails, but I imagine those would work too.

Hope your exhaust goes on easily! I changed mine before 200 miles, so bolts came out very easily!
i need to pick up an air ratchet or impact gun. which one do you have?

I am surprised there isnt a thread on tools or impact guns. Seems like a really needed tool for all these bolt on jobs. Thanks.

It isn't needed, but power does help. For example, there are 16 bolts with loctite that need to come out to remove the convertible bracing. With a ratchet, that would have taken probably 15-20 minutes. With my impact gun, I zipped them all out in about 5 probably. It's a huge time and soreness saver. Putting everything back together, I always final tighten everything by hand though.

Swapped out for a stubby antenna

I like the shape, but I wish the bottom met up a little better. Also, the finish is different on the antenna vs the base. Oh well, for $30, it's not bad.

Made a custom sound tube cap. bought a PVC cap and sanded it smooth. Then painted it gloss black. After that, I sanded the inside of the cap and the outside of the sound tube port until it threaded on. Should be air tight, but if any non-metered air sneaks by, I'll just redo it with some heat or sealant.

Installed the new (used) C&L intake. found that one of the MAF sensor screw holes has a screw broken off inside of it. After breaking some stuff in frustration, I decided that no vehicle is complete without duct tape and/or zip ties on it, so I opted for the latter. That's what I get for buying a used intake. I think I can get the screw bit out from inside, but that's a job for another day.
