At the side of the road waiting for the AA.

Went to shift gear from 1-2 and found I was locked out of the gearbox totally. Can't get gears at all.

Switched off I can move through the box, so it's not the shifter.

Engine running, no dice.

Can start it in gear and it'll jump down the road.

Clutch pedal feels lighter.

No fluids under the car.

Two days ago it jittered/juddered once or twice pulling away, but was then ok again the last day. Now this.

Clutch plate? Hydraulics? Slave cylinder? Help!

Means my weekend and appt. With Mike on Monday is likely fucked. Gutted.

Any old shite.
Sounds like either the release bearing has gone through the pressure plate or the lever has failed. It could be the slave, what's the fluid level like? If it's empty you might get away with topping it up and pumping the pedal to get some action back just to get it moving.
Have a look around the bell housing to see if you can see any fluid.

Fluid reservoir is full.

No fluids under the car (as far as I can see).

It's mechanical then, has there been any noises? Whirring, bearing sounds? Also possibly could be something at the top of the pedal where it pushes the master cylinder in, unlikely though.
If it's the lever that's failed or the release bearing gone through the pressure plate, it's probably just the return spring (if these have them?) on the clutch pedal that's bringing it back up, rather than the clutch pressure plate itself, hence the light pedal feel.
Looks like a box out job.

Bloody thing always makes whirring noises etc, loud transmissions. Nothing out of the ordinary (or so I thought).

Clutch pedal has not fully returned from time to time (since new). Went to ford and they said they could find nothing wrong.

Basically it's rather broken Right now. Lol. I'm very upset. Gonna cost me a lot of money in lost appointments and God knows what this week.

At least the clutch is a straightforward job, what with it being rear wheel drive.
Good opportunity to fit a Barton shifter!

Yeh it's more scheduling that's an issue. Obviously dumping a broken GT on the local dealership might take them some what by surprise!

I think roadside assistance gives you a hire car whilst yours is being fixed, doesn't it?

Finaly home after nearly 5 hrs.

Ford Assistance totally ballsed that up.

Car is still at roadside and will be recovered to Evans Halshaw in Hull tomorrow morning.

Let the fun and games begin. They will certainly try to deny this as a warranty claim.

Be interesting to see how they handle the warranty. With a tune and your steeds shifter you can see them being able to wiggle out of it. But I dont know why they would. They still get paid for all the work. There's no need for them to tell Ford it has any modifications. Good luck mate

Does anyone know if this is likely to be the first UK /EU clutch failure?

They have to plug them in to the system when they go into the workshop and that automatically makes a note that it's been tinkered with.

Indeed. I think it's likely to be a release bearing, which has nothing to do with any of the mods I've made.... Mike at Modurstang said Ford are usually quite good with warranty on modded cars, obviously they don't cover directly modified parts, but adding 30bhp to the engine doesn't have a direct link to a mechanical component of the clutch. It's not burnt out for example.

In the first instance I need it back on the road, the rest can come later.

He is correct unless the mod directly impacted the failure they cant wriggle out under the law.

there has to be a proven causality.

Also, putting a burn out feature on the car does limit their ability to wiggle out.
