After the trouble I had with my 2016 Race Red GT350 last year (http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66091), I got rid of the car in favor of a cheaper daily car. I ended up trading my car in December for a 17 VW GTI Sport DSG (VW's dual clutch transmission), check here if interested: http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26430. After sorting my everyday car out, I started thinking about buying a "fun" car next. Something I wouldn't have to worry about commuting in, parking lot door dings, hail damage, or my wife being particularly interested in. I was looking at trying something new, as I've done in the past (97 240sx, 2012 Mazdaspeed3, 2009 GT-R, 2014 FR-S). Maybe a used Audi R8 V8 manual (gated shifter!), a manual 997 911, a C7 Corvette, new Camaro 1LE or ZL1, Focus RS, etc. I wanted something exciting, manual transmission, and most importantly, blue. Being my favorite color, I've yet to have a blue car in 10 cars. I nearly bought a DIB 2016 GT350 but found a better deal (lower ADM) on the Race Red that I bought.
I've liked the 2017 Lightning Blue color that I've only seen in pictures. I've seen one S550 (non GT350) in the color at Cars & Coffee before in overcast lighting, and liked it a lot. I came back around to the GT350 as my possible next car because I think it's the best car in my budget for what I am looking for (manufacturer warranty, sound, uniqueness, looks, safety). My 2016 car had the comfort seats and I decided that if I bought another, it'd have to be Lightning Blue and have the Recaro seats. I also wanted the electronics package if I could find it.
This past Saturday while at lunch with friends (GT350 owners), I found a new listing for an LB GT350 with Recaros and electronics package at a dealer in a small town within an hour drive from Dallas. One friend has a nice collection of cars (past cars too) and always gets good deals, so I asked him if he had a connection at this dealer and/or could help me. The dealer had the car listed with ADM. I appreciated them being up front about it at least, but didn't want to pay ADM. We first contacted the dealer around 2:00 PM, they closed at 5:00 PM (day before Easter Sunday too), and Google said it was nearly a 1.5 hour drive to get there. My friend (easily) talked them down to MSRP, and a group of us caravaned there in 2 GT350s, and I bought the car!
I rode with friends to pick up the car. There's a Shadow Black 2016 tech pack car and an Avalanche Gray 2016 track pack car. This is the first time I've seen a Lightning Blue GT350 in person!
Once back to town, I took a pic of the car with some late afternoon sunlight hitting the (dirty) paint.
Here are some detail shots.
I'm so happy I got the Recaro seats this time around, especially since I'll mainly drive this car for fun.
Some more pics, overcast but the color still looks amazing!
