I was actually looking at doing the whole "hello kitty" theme on my car in the name of originality, but like all good ideas, it's been done before :frusty:
I guess theft wouldn't be an issue?

The factory key is pretty easy to duplicate, it uses a unencrypted algorithm set for the keyfob and immobiliser, most people who are competent around RF duplication can get into one and start it.

I emulated my old ST keysso I could start it with a Rf trigger in the car and my phone and I had a quick look at the mustang RF on the weekend and is almost identical.

Technically speaking provided my scanner is within range I can get both your garage remote and car RF tags in one scan and just walk in and drive it away.

Same tech has been in use for years for car thieves in Europe.
That's sure to help

Having had a similar experience in the past, this is the sum total of my primary key.
I had this keyring on my eBay watch list for ages and that photo made me buy it!

It's surprisingly quite solid for around $2 shipped from Guangzhou or wherever it was.

For those who are curious, I got a price from the local Ford dealer to get this sorted.
New key $250
Recoding the car and keys $100
I was honestly expecting MUCH worse. Reports of $800 keys for other cars had me a little worried.

I've been given a "tile" which tells me by gps where it is. Very helpful for me

i recommend getting one of the "tile" locator's on keys, wallets, anything you don't want to lose, they are about 1.5cm square and have a hole for a key ring.

Don't Tiles work via Bluetooth? What's the range on them? I know they do a 'crowd-GPS' thing, but surely that still relies on devices being in Bluetooth range.

Dude, every new RF key (especially the ones for cars) use rolling code - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_code

Please don't tell me that these ones have hard-coded signal pattern...
