While searching for 2018 Mustangs around, I came across this in one of the cars. I don't recall seeing this when I went for a test drive. Any ideas?

You drove a production level car with a frameless rearview? What trim level? Most of the premium GT's I've seen in online ads don't have it. Maybe 301a/401a only?

I couldn't tell you if mine had a frame or didn't. Looks good, but it's nothing I would ever spend money on.

Mine rattles in its housing at highway speeds, so I'd love to go frameless to get rid of that.

I think frameless with auto dimming would have a ring that can't dim around the part that can.
My WRX has a very thin bezel one and that's what I see.

Here's the number: JU5Z*17700*A

That mirror is specific to the auto rain sensing wipers...the black thing in the picture behind the mirror is the rain sensor.

MSRP IS $311.25

Yep. Can't be avoided with frameless.

Went out to our lot after seeing this and wanted to post this. I'm aware there is a "Frameless" sticker on there mirror.

And I don't even see an frameless auto dimming on the options for 2018 in our dealer resources

Now you're making me doubt myself.

It was a GT Premium but did not have 401a.

Perhaps the frame was just really thin....hmmm.

The sticker says frameless.

I'm aware of that, I'm just saying I don't see it in the options

EDIT: I've seen someone mention rain sensing might be the reason behind it. Does the OP know if that car had Ford Safe and Smart package on it?

Sorry to bump an old thread. But for anyone who wants to retrofit a frameless mirror:

JU5Z*17700*A is the correct part #. However it's only available on rain sensing cars for whatever reason... I have a 350R and the interiors really feel pretty chinsy these days. Looking at a boggo standard black rimmed mirror doesn't help. Luckily the part however can be used standalone without looking awry!

As you can see, it'll mount up just fine. However the problem is the connection is different. The non-frameless cars plug directly in the mirror. On this, the connector is on the mirror. Rain sensing car:

I plan on running the car wiring connector and the mirror connector up to the headliner. Then making the connections there manually in the lighting area... not quite sure how I am going to do it cleanly — keeping it removable and without chopping up wiring harnesses. I'll post back once I have the part in hand.
