I ordered my Base, 18 PP, 5.0, A10 yesterday. The luster nickel painted forged wheels are available. I like black wheels but don't like the heavily spoked design of the black PP wheels. Anyhow, didn't want to wait for the nickel ones, which to me are really nice, because of the late availability. That and they are still only 9.5" wide in the back. Prob get some 11s after a while.
I'm confused by your statement: you say wheel 647 "are available", but then say "didn't want to wait". So are they available or not, or available as of xx/xxxx? Thanks for the clarification

To clarify, the salesman did not know what dates the nickel forged wheels would be available or if there was an up charge. His computer just said "late availability". Seems we have as much info as them now. I figured make my build as simple as possible so it wouldn't be delayed. I went through that when i ordered a Hellcat in 2015, wanted the Black hood, after waiting a year FCA cancelled all 2015 orders! Never got the car. Im going with X-Plan for pricing so ill be happy( Enough).

to clarify...

The stock silver PP wheels available in 2016 and 2017 are "Luster Nickel". Ford racing sells the same style wheel in "sparkle silver" which is a different finish. It has more pronounced metal flake than the OEM Luster Nickel silver. I bought the Ford racing version for my all season Michelins that I run in the Ohio cold weather months. I run my stock Pirellis in the summer (for now). From a distance, you can't tell the difference. They both look great. I also am not a black wheel fan. I don't know why the silver generally seems less available, or why Ford would make two different silver colors that are so close to each other.

I'm guessing:

  1. Because it takes a better knowledge of the order book and extra steps to order.
  2. Ford charges ~$200 MSRP more for silver in the US when the cost to them is identical. Probably using whatever warped justification Ford has for making Oxford White an extra cost paint in Europe or UK.

Thanks - I plan on ordering in December so the 647 wheel should be available by then.

Would 255/40R19 tires work on the rear PP wheels as well? Thinking about getting an all season set of tires. My understanding is 255/40R19 can work on 8.5" - 10" wide wheels.

Can't wait to start seeing those forged 19s as take-offs. I'll probably pick up a set. :D

The silver wheels (as a set with TPMS kit) are cheap: http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-performance-gt-performance-pack-wheel-19-x9-and-19-x9-5-silver-set-v6-ecoboost-gt-2015-2017/p/M1007KM19XS/

They may not be as light as some of the aftermarket wheels, but if you want the silver wheels its a pretty cheap fix. I have a set for my winter tires.
You are correct! Just saw these yesterday, and thank you for the suggestion! I might even put a pair of these on my anniversary car, as I like the lighter silver (even though the anniversary car's wheels are not black). It is a cost effective fix and I can use my existing tires!
