Unable to open trunk. Trunk light is showing trunk open on dash

As the title states, I am unable to open the trunk. I tried to get it open with the key, the open trunk button in the car, and also the button right above the license plate.

The "trunk open" light is currently displayed on my dash, however, the trunk is completely closed. Has anyone had any similar problems?

I'll bring it in to the dealer tomorrow to see what they say, but wanted to get your guys opinions first.

PS: My key works perfectly fine as I am able to get in and out of the car without any problem.

I'd say pull down the rear seats and try opening the trunk with the emergency chord thingy inside the trunk. I've never done it myself but I don't think it would hurt to try.

What happens when you insert the key? Does it turn? Stiff? Free? Does it feel like it is straining against something?

Try thumping on the trunk lid (pressure toward the ground) as you turn the key

Agreed. This was posted in the same instant that I was composing my reply.

I'l definitely try that when I get out of work. Will report back to see if this works.

^^ Thank god it wasn't just me. I was sitting here looking at my key and trying to figure this out:frusty:

Mine quit working and they replaced the solenoid that pops it open.

How long was it at the dealership for?

Use two people. One to press or pull on trunk while the other pushes release?.

Don't know how much I want to pull or press on the trunk considering how many people have dented it just by closing it a little hard.

Their is a key in your key fob. Also their is a key hole on the driver door but as for the trunk, not to sure on that one.

Gonna revive an old thread here but did you ever figure this out? My friends s550 will not open the trunk via remote or in car button, also not hearing any sounds when we press the buttons. Could that be a fuse, or a solenoid?

Same here.... Trunk actually pops open when I lock the car and doesn't open when the car is unlocked

Its the wiring harness, wires are broken, we've got some threads on it. Ford doesn't have more than a splice it back together temp fix for it right now and some have stated that the problem returns/persists.
I run a dog leash thru the back seats attached to the emergency release inside the trunk, I've been otherwise stuck and not able to open it either.
