Can anyone help me out how to add a sub amp to my base audio. I'm not an expert so i have no clue how to install this as well as what to buy. And i only want to spend around $150 and prefer the most simple way to set up . As far as i know :
- i need A self powered sub-amp ( don't know which is the best for my budget.)
- i need to connect rear speaker to this sub-amp ( how to wire this i don't know).
- i need to wire this sub-amp directly to car battery.
Thank you so much.

Update 1:
- I plan to buy these 3 items. Am i good to go ?
- For amp kit, do i need to buy 4 gauge or 8 gauge ?

going to be really hard to do all that for $150....

parts list will be:

powered sub
amp kit (power wire...etc"
Line Out Converter .

if you arent familiar with car electronics or an amp install, i would suggest having a shop do it.

I would be interested in the answers also, I have considered doing this for awhile now.

I looked up powered sub amps at amazon, how about this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-P300-12-Subwoofer-Enclosure/dp/B007AQ2W6W/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1467755998&sr=1-1&keywords=powered+subwoofer+car+audio

you need a amp kit as its not included and a LOC.. the LOC taps into the factory speaker wires so you can get the signal to amp via rca cables.

In the description:
" The P300-12 powered subwoofer is an "all-in-one" solution when adding bass to a factory system or just to save space. This model features a 12-Inch subwoofer in a sealed enclosure powered by an internal 300 watt amplifier. " ?

I bought the 10 inch version of the P300. Sounds great. It is an all in one amp and sub, but you still need to run the power and ground wires. That's what the amp kit is for. You can tap, directly off of the rear speakers for a signal, but I chose to use a line out converter and hooked that to the speakers for a signal and then to the sub. My P300-10 cost $165
That sub has a very small footprint in the trunk and really packs a nice punch. System sounds good now

Whatever you do, do not buy an Infinity Basslink, mine only lasted for maybe 3 months if that.

Wire kit was just a generic kit from Amazon, about 40 bucks.
LOC was a Rockford Fosgate from Amazon also, about 20 bucks

I thought that if you just use a LOC the sound symposer for engine noises ends up going through the sub?

Yes and no. No simple answer here.

There are many many many tutorials on how to setup up your LOC as well as subs and such.

Short answer is that many have been successful in setting up their subs based on a LOC input.
