Anyone have tips for removing shifter base lower cap?

I've removed the 2 nuts for bushing bracket and the 4 bolts for the lower cap. That sucker won't budge though. Can't really get a screw driver up there to pry, tried pushing while pulling with opposite hand. Tried pushing with screw driver best I could with the odd angle.
