Planning on installing the 3.55 pumpkin in my '17 V6 car next week. Was looking at the factory service manual and it says to throw away the differential bolts and driveshaft / pinion bolts and replace with new.

Are they torque to yield?

Anyone else doing this or am I overthinking it with only 2K miles on the car?

Any conclusions? I'm going to work on the swap soon...
Thanks!

I reused mine. Buy new driveshaft bolts for your own sanity - unless you want to spend 30-45minutes like I did - cleaning out the huge amount of threadlocker on the OEM bolts.

I honestly believe it is because new bolts come dipped in thread locker. Don't think Ford wants to put "Use Blue Loctite before re-torquing" in the manual.

Bench grinder with a wire wheel FTW!!

I reused mine on my 15, I also had it off and on 3 times to reclock it for vibration and out again when I did the clutch. All said and done I had retorqued them at least 4 times each time using a small amount of blue lock tight on them. Use only a small amount! If you coat them too heavily it can seep out and get in between the flanges. I had the driveshaft on for about 5-7k miles with no issues before I removed it to trade the car in.

The Diff to Carrier Bolts are somewhat of a problem, especially if you launch your car from a dead stop.

This might be worth reviewing:

Myself, I used the BMR and Lethal Performance Solution
BMR : BK051
Lethal: LP-550179
LOL! "900HP and 1.3 60 ft. times" I think I'm safe! :headbonk: I do like the thicker bolts to take up the gap, but one must use anti seize or know a lot of colorful words a few years down the road to use while trying to get these bolts out.

So ctandc72 how did the switch go any concerns or trouble & how long did it take you to finish. I am about to start on mine also what did you think about the 355 gears.
