Also FWIW: Regardless of peak numbers if the manifold has a flatter curve and pulls harder to redline it has already proven to be superior manifold. ;)

The DEI heat wrap goes on today, even though its a cool day around 70 im going to beat the snot out of my v6 and see what the readings are. If it does anything at all to my IAT numbers then I assume it was a worthwhile investment of $15 lol. Thank you for everyone who gave me some advice in here! I'll report back later..

Good luck and let us know how it goes. On a semi-related note since we're discussing temps, you should consider the Reische 170* T-stat (after getting a tune so your tuner can set your fans for it). This is arguably one of the best mods outside of the tune I have done yet. The car is always consistent and cylinder head temps never break past 185 even on a hot humid summer day. With the stock 195* unit during summer CHTs were in the low 200's.

I have read up on that Tstate a good amount and it seems well worth the money! I just have to wait for that tune now :frusty:

Here is a little update for anyone who may have a metal intake pipe:

I did some hard driving through some curvey roads in sport mode keeping the rpms above 2k and my IAT never got above 90...which I sort of expected since it is a mild day (70). So what I did was leave the car running for 15-20 minutes parked in my driveway to simulate traffic with low air flow through the engine bay and intake pipe. The results were IATs around 110, a great improvement over the 140-160 I had been seeing within the same amount of time. Of course the cooler day does get some credit, but as of now it seems the heat wrap is doing its job and keeping the pipe a little cooler than before, resulting in lower IATs.

What I believe was happening was my thin aluminum pipe was soaking up so much heat and transferring it to the incoming air. With this new heat tape it seems to be more resilient to the under hood temperatures but only a truly HOT day will tell. I will continue to update this with some more data after one of these days.

The product I used was a 2"x15' roll of DEI Reflect-A-GOLD heat tape.

That Taurus intake looks really tall. Do you k ow if they had hood clearance issues?
That's a good question, I'd have to join that forum and PM the guy personally to ask him. Not too sure what did he do for clearance. As of now it's just an idea I'm toying with, I might not do it if it involves extending/splicing wires as he mentioned on his post. I wish we had more short runner/large plenum options.

No way in hell that manifold would fit in a s550

I run the 87 prx tune from MPT and my cylinder temp show like 200-212 when driving on highway and I don't think I'm beating on my car that hard.

Is that normal? And whats the average??

That's "normal" on the stock 195* t-stat (especially on a hot summer day). If you want that to change look into the Reische 170* t-stat while getting your tuner to change the fans for the new 170* t-stat.

Lot's of R&D went into making those, I believe Adam with Tune+ also had say-so in making them as well. You also have to factor in the costs of 3d printing.
