Have any of you guys done a self install with the Harrop SC??

I'm giving some serious consideration to an SC upgrade. The whipple and Roush systems are available in the UK, and I know an owner of each that did the install at home with no problems...

I like the look of the Harrop set up, but it's a far bit more expensive, if I then have to pay someone to install it, I fear I won't be able to justify it to myself.

Just trying to weigh up my options really:D

Hi Enoch,

Don't know of anyone here who installed a Harrop supercharger themselves. Phil545 had his done at the Harrop premises in Melbourne and I know of one dealer in Sydney who has installed a handful for customers.

Thanks for the reply:thumbsup:...

It's a shame that Harrop don't do a self install kit, like whipple and Roush...

I suspect that if I were to buy a kit and run into problems, I'd get little support from Harrop, so with that in mind, and the much higher cost over the competition, I think I'll be l putting this one to bed...

Shame, because it looks a great solution to getting silly power:)

Hi Enoch,

I guess it depends what presence Harrop has in the UK. If they don't have a distributor then local support would be lacking.

The dealership that I mentioned is the one I bought my Mustang from and they have a relationship with Harrop; the mechanic, who works solely on Mustangs at the dealership, was sent to Melbourne and trained on the installs.

I can understand your reluctance.

Pretty sure they can sell you the blower x warranty and install mate.
Certainly worth getting in contact with them or Phil545 or whatever he goes by on this forum. He'd be able to put you in contact with the right people.

They do have a UK agent (abbeymotorsport) but looking at their website, I can't see any reference to Mustangs or Harrop.... they seem to specialise in the Japanese stuff....

I may get in touch and see what they say.

The main problem is that the cost of the Harrop, and then the cost of install is so much more than the Whipple & Roush, it makes it uneaconomical...
whereas if I could do the install myself, it would be within reach...:)

Enoch, I am curious why you would prefer the Harrop over the Whipple even at a higher price? The Whipple outperforms the Harrop in pretty much every way. The only reasons to choose the Harrop in Australia is that it is cheaper and available from a better workshop than most of the Whipple sellers.

Good question:)

I like the aesthetics of the Harrop, it looks more "factory" and integrated than whipple or Roush, which look like they're just stuck on top of the engine..

I like the idea that there will be very few (if any) in the UK.

Regarding power, I'm not that bothered if it's down on the other brands, it'll still be plenty for UK roads.:)

Have you looked at the Edelbrock as an option? They are well priced here and have an OEM look about them also.

Hey Enoch, drop me a pm if you like and I can chat to Harrop directly for you. I'm 99% sure the harrop comes with instructions and I could probably even get them for you to read over first and make sure you are comfortable with it before purchasing

Cheers
Phil

Hey guys just a heads up i've had the Harrop TVS2650 installed in my 2017 Mustang by a registered installer and ended up being a good decision because mine is a manual and they dont have a pre packaged flash for it at the moment .. so between the installer and harrop they created one there and then.... So if you did go for the above mentioned TV2650 i think you may come unstuck with the flash tune.. if yours is a manual that is..
Oh and the TVS 2650 has the capability to produce 1100hp so definitely enough power to grow into if needed
