Went for an oil change today and found out my CV joint boot on left rear axle was slinging grease everywhere. This was my first oil change at 1070 miles. Tech believes the boot clap was over torqued from the factory. I'm glad the tech found it. They are ordering a new axle, scheduled the repair for next Friday. They wanted me to leave my car there, but I drove it home. Disappointing, buy at least it's under warranty. Curious if anyone else has experienced this?

I have not but read of at least 2 others with the same issue. A search should yield something from a year ago.

I like to disassemble things.
Exact same issue on mine. Ford took care of it. There is indeed a good thread on it here.

Thanks, I'll search it here. I first googled it when I was at the dealership and saw one on a different forum from a 2016 model with 350 miles on it. Just another thing to keep an eye on with this car.

Hardest part for me was getting an undamaged replacement axle half from Ford. Minimal packaging led to three tries to get a good one. Luckily my mechanic was on the ball and wouldn’t accept any damage. Hopefully they have fixed that. Good Luck!

It is a pretty common problem from what I’ve heard. I just had mine replaced before I put my car away for the winter for the same reason.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'm going to call the dealership and let them know they need to inspect the part closely. I'll tell them to make sure the boot doesn't have any tears or cracks. They said the part will be delivered Wednesday and I scheduled the replacement on Friday.
