This is the main reason. My car came by rail car and I have pictures of it when it was taken off the trailer. Dealer had marked 4 miles on the title but when I got into the car and checked the mileage it had 24 miles. So somebody took a factory ordered Mustang on a 20 mile joyride. The only thing I can think of it was the guys at the rail yard. All these cars should come from factory with
built in dash cams and finger print readers for each person that starts the ignition. Have their finger prints recorded and stored (Time & Date stamped)
So when they start the car we know who it was and when they stop it we know
how long they have been driving - add mileage, speed etc to the data file.

I say go to the cops - sue their ass and if that does'nt work call in a specialist to
take care of them. - Dinner Reservation.
Wow, talk about an overboard reaction.

I'd show the shop manager the videos. Sure, they got on it a bit...definitely not professional on their part. They obviously don't respect their customers cars. So, I totally understand your frustration.
But what harm to you think they did to your Mustang? I can assure you nothing.
If those guys hurt your Mustang by those accelerations...we better sell our 'Stangs today.
Lawyer up!? No way.

Let the shop manager watch these videos.
But first, figure out what you want from him/her to make it right? A tank of fuel? $ off the repairs?

Non allowed use of a motor vehicle is a crime last I knew. Call the cops. In my brief perusal of the vids I did not see abuse, but did see unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

I'd have a conversation with the manager. At a minimum I'd want compensation for the wear on the rear tires, the driver tried to spin them at every stop.

Sucks this happened. I would talk with the shop manager and show the videos. Hope you get it all worked out.

When you enter a bailment relationship with the mechanic. This allows them to drive the car in any case of repair. An involuntary bailment is a temporary transfer of property to another for a limited time and for a specific purpose.

"Inspect your car to make sure that it is not a danger to the driver or other driver and repair the car to make it safe for use."

Example: If they were doing repairs and did something incorrectly but gave you the vehicle back without test driving and it caused you to directly crash. The first thing you would say is did you even turn the car on or drive it to know it worked before giving it back to the customer?

It would help with liability to just have every car driven after every repair.

His best case scenario is get a full refund on the repairs and call it a day.

I have posted this before.

When leaving your car anywhere, put a note on the dash stating " dash cam in use, mileage noted"

Who would drive the car after that?

Oh, and a question, what damages have you incurred and what compensation do you want?
I always reset the G meter shortly before arriving and drive gently then leave it up on the screen. So far it hasn't come back with any different numbers (and I don't think it would be very easy to get all 4 numbers to be the same had they reset it).

Sound advice right there.

100% talk to the shop OWNER. Not the manager. News stations would love this kind of story. I would demand a new set of tires and some sort of flat wear and tear fee.

Meh. It's an ahole move for sure, but let's be real. You never drove your car as hard as he was in those videos? Just move on with life I say. No harm was done to your car based on those videos. I would let management know and see if they offer you some sort of compensation and leave it at that.
That's not the point. When he starts paying my note, my insurance and starts putting gas in it, then he can start driving it that way. This is bullsh*t.

If they were moving it from one side of the shop to the other by going around the block, then it would be justified. Or if they were making sure there was no issue with any damage due to the contact you had made, that would be justified. Things like that..

If it was mine and the reason for driving it was legit, I really wouldn't take issue with them running it briefly to 4k rpm and a couple tire chirps. It's fun and no damage was done.

Even if all was legit and you took issue with the mild throttle application, some of the stuff you all are suggesting is so far beyond reasonable it made me laugh out loud. A new set of tires? Sue them?

Call the cops? LOLOL One thing in this world I can guarantee the cops don't care about is if the body shop took your car for a quick spin and accelerated hard a couple times. Calls like this are why response times to real crime are delayed.

Show the owner and see what they say. That's about all you can do.

my mustang span out of track and scratched by tirewall , so I took it to a local body shop a couple days ago.
I picked up my car from body shop today, and I checked my dashcam later today after came home and found my car was abused.

Should I call the police, or ask them for compensation? Need some advice from you guys

Sorry about the dashcam angle, I forgot to adjust it after the track day.

I don't get it do these guys not see a dashcam mounted to the car?

ok i finally saw where they are driving it hard in the third video. Yeah that would piss me off. I'd take it to the manager, demand new tires or something ridiculous.
Blow em up on the review chains so no one else brings their cars there, i know id appreciate knowing the shop to avoid.
