why would the tech pack perform any different becuase of coolers? i mean thats the only difference between it and the track pack. perhaps it cant be out on the track as long but a hot lap isnt an endurance race.
This is assuming the track pack doesnt have slightly tweaked springs and magneride settings. Ford was very tight lipped about some of the tweaks it made on the brembo package S197 cars, but there were in fact some differences.

And in hot areas on high HP tracks, it may one take a few laps to start running into heat issues. And its not like you can always go out on an empty track and get a good hot lap in without some traffic.

Anyone else notice the 3760 lb curb weight of the GT350? I wonder if that's the base, tech, or track pack. I'm willing to bet it's the base model since they say it only has a 110 lb disadvantage vs the R.
The article also says the base car has magneride, so who really knows if that info is accurate.

According to The Detroit Free Press, the 911 GT3! :cheers:
But which one? A 996, 997.1, 997.2 or 991? There's a big difference between all four I just mentioned. If it can hang with a 997.2 GT3 I'll be very pleased. :thumbsup: I have a hard time passing them in my 5.0.

I agree... I highly think a 991 GT3 is out of the picture. I'm guessing a 997.1 first.

Timing this with a stop watch, I got a 1:25.3 lap time... That's a really, really good time for Grattan. Looks like a GT305R with Electronics package.

It would more than disingenious if they were not referring to the newest GT3.
I have to agree with this. No way you'd run your flagship Mustang and boast about beating an older Porsche, even if it is a Porsche.

Never would happen anyway, as Ford does not, historically, publish an lap times from it's R&D at that venue. Besides, it's a useless number other than for Internet bragging rights and, even then, since there is no official timing used at the 'Ring, it's subjective anyway.

Building a car that competes with Porshe or Corvette is evidence enough that Ford has taken 'the next step' in Mustang evolution.

It needed to do exactly that to ensure that future generations can run with the best the world has to offer...

Doesnt stop professional bench racers from having a ball. I mean who cares if there is no official sanctioning body, no impound, no tech inspection, no one there to make sure the car is on stock tires and pump gas. Minor details!
