Hi All,I got my Car in June and took her for a run through France(2350 miles) and noticed right away that the steering wheel was offset to the left. Now it maybe that thats how it is in a RHD car but whilst sat in the seat does feel a little uncomfortable as the top part is slightly twisted to the left .
Has Anyone else found this to be a problem,Its just that I suffer from lower back Pain and could this contribute to it.
Just a thought, I will be looking at a LHD when in Europe soon just to see if they have the same i.e. offset to the Right?

I don't think he means not centred with the wheels, more like the steering column is not in line with the centre of the seat.
Ah in which case, not a clue, don't think mine is at all...

Surprisingly, most cars steering wheels are slightly offset. Some more than others, but it's not unusual for it not to centre on the drivers seat.

Yes i have seen it before just in this instance I feel slightly twisted when on the seat certainly my BMW 6 Series & MB S Class Don't seem to be offset certainly They don't feel so.Guess when its in for a couple of Warrenty issues I will see what they have to say along with the abysmal Under-seal !!!

On another note Black Thunder, did I pass you on or around the 16th June, north of Gap?

I was in a Ruby Red.

To address your question, I've not noticed any offset at all

It might explain the left shoulder pain I've been experiencing since not long after I got the car!

Just putting this out there..

The upper column is attached to the dash bar by three bolts, one each side of the column and one in front of your knees. (Item 2 and 3 in the accompanying piccy) The holes will have clearance, so if the bolts were loosened you would be able to correct the error you are experiencing. It would be a simple job for any experienced mech/enthusiast to do and you'd be all set.

I should imagine this is just another example of poor build quality.

Checked my car and others at a meet this morning. They're all like that, sir. :D

Seriously.

They're all offset in the sense that your left arm is actually marginally straighter than the right when holding the wheel, not that it sits off-centre of the seat or pedals or anything.

Great solid info there, thanks for taking the time to check it out.

I have to ask the question though.. WHY???? There's a UJ about a foot away from the wheel, so the wheel could easily have been fitted square to the drivers chest??

Had a look this morning. Must be about 1.5 inches if not 2 inches left of my crotch.

Sorry only reference I had whilst driving in :)

Would be interesting to know if the LHDs are the same.
