Hey guys.

I'm putting a set of Pilot Alpin PA4 winter tires on a set of staggered performance pack wheels. 9" front 9.5" rear.

Available front sizes:
265/40/19
255/35/19

Available rear sizes:
285/40/19
285/35/19

I am not sure which combo would work as I know the sidewall height and overall height varies. I am lowered on GT350R front springs and BMR SP085 rear. Im currently running 285/35/19 and 305/35/19 without any issues.

If anyone has any insight on which sizes would be better please let me know. Much appreciated.

Ok, learn me something? Pony pack rims? 19x9 and 19x91/2" staggered OEM rims? Also a 9" rim will accept a 265? 9 1/2" maybe, but 9" wheel will not to my comprehension of wheel/tire. You must have wheels aftermarket, huh? 285's need 10" wheels, right?

A 9" wheel can fit a 265 tire no problem.

9.5" wheel is better suited for a 275 but 285 should fit without issue too.

I would go with the taller 40 series tires for winter use.
I assume the car will see snow given you are putting real winter tires on. So a bit more ground clearance will help.

Though, for winter use I would normally not want go wider than stock, up to 275 front and 285 rear is fine on the stock wheels.

Agreed with above, 40 aspect tire is what I'd be more worried about.

How so? Stock is 40 series With the larger (wider) tire size a 40 series will be a little taller than stock (good for snow), while a 35 will be a bit lower (bad for snow). Considering the car is lowered, you probably still will be lower than stock even with the slightly taller tires.

The extra tire diameter is not a problem with the tires hitting the fenders unless the car has been lowered A LOT. Less than an inch with the GT350 springs, no concern at all.

Though if you are running spacers for looks, I would take then off for snow . As that will have more clearance and will keep your car cleaner.

Yes I was also worried about the 40 ratio being too big of a tire and causing clearance issues.

I know wide tires is generally not recommended in winter tires, however I'm mostly just getting them for cold pavement. The car may see some light snow, but any more than that I have another car. So my focus is on traction on cold pavement, not deep snow.

Here are the tire height measurements for each size. Anybody know what is in the acceptable range?

Front:
265/40/19 - 27.4"
255/35/19 - 26"

Rear:
285/40/19 - 27.9"
285/35/19 - 26.9"

Current tires are 26.7" Front and 27.4" Rear.

I put 255/40R19 yokohama snow tires all around on my 2015 PP wheels. Fits and works fine. Looks a little small on the back but not bad.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll probably go with the 35 ratio for both sides.
