I know I've mentioned it on here before but as the car finally gets closer to arriving (currently stalking on Marine Traffic and the ship is just entering the English Channel)... I'm desperately thinking of where to store it.

My garage is literally just 8cm too short in length (the door comes down inside the blockwork. I can't extend as there isn't room and I can't go backwards as its a load bearing wall backing on to a utility room.

My 911 literally just squeezes in but I really want the new Stang in there. Has anyone seen anything like a plastic fitting or similar that I could attach to the bottom of the panel garage door, put the door down until just before touching the bonnet and then secure that to the ground to keep it watertight etc?

I'm probably mad even thinking about this but it's kept me up at night on how I can keep the car secure, dry and on a trickle charger without worrying about it.

Alternatively leaving it in the garage with the door down most of the way and a car cover on it and some from of lifting metal grate outside?

See... I'm mad. Oh and also telling the wife we are moving house isn't an option - we only moved in 2 months ago - yes completely my fault for assuming the car would fit!

Cheers

Depending on your budget have a word with a garage door specialist.

I'm sure they must be capable of knocking up a kind of "box section" instead of a regular door if you see what I mean. A kind of extension.

Good idea - off to the yellow pages now!

My garage door used to come down inside the blockwork, but the soffit above extended about 6" forward... so I just built a new frame out of 50x100mm timber on the front of the blockwork, which I clad with PVC, and moved the garage door forward into that!

Not a great pic as it's bloody dark outside already... but think you'll get the idea. Gave me an extra 6-7" (150-175mm) of internal depth.

Knock the garage wall down, RSJ and fit a new partition wall a little further in. Extreme, but if you're planning on keeping it for a while and want to keep it in perfect condition, it's an option.

Nice one thanks Nookie. I have a garage "specialist" coming around to see what he can suggest...

That is an excellent workaround. :clap2::cheers:
I guess the alternative is to insert a power bulge into the garage door...:D
